Ford acknowledged the problems via TSBs and apparently have a plan to redesign/fix it plan soon like GM already did for the 2023 with the 8L90. Sample size or not....We are a very small sample size.
I look forward to your report.I work for ford and I will try this today and see what happens

The ZF transmissions also have big issues. I used to have a Jeep and it was a problem. Class action law suits. The ZF9 is worse than the ZF8 but both catastrophically fail and have shifting issues. Pretty much the same as GM and Ford. GM by far has the most issues I’ve seen though. Maybe they are getting better but the last 8 years has been a real problem over there. The 10R80 has problems. Problems that are not just in people's heads or "trucks should drive like crap" sort of thing.
The fact this group is small relative to the number out there and so many have issues or complete failures is a bit of a problem IMO. That or all our online trolling is creating bad truck karma...
All that said. I swear everyone is building crap transmissions these days... especially with trucks. So many of the same complaints if you search around for something to swap too... so it's like throwing the dice with almost any if you get a good trans or a grenade. I sort of feel like mine has the pin pulled but no idea on the fuses timing....
I am almost throwing up saying this but the Ram seems to be the least complained about for transmissions... but they cheated with a ZF unit.
Welp they all suck then. Maybe the Ram owners just can't figure out keyboards to get mad online or since didn't consider one - I didn't look that hard. The ZF transmissions also have big issues. I’ve had 3 vehicles with the ZF8, they were all buttery smooth. Never felt anything. I wish the Ranger had the ZF8The ZF transmissions also have big issues. They put out a TSB to change the trans oil to Mobil full synthetic. Turns out the dexronwas able to absorb water. It helped but did not completely resolve the issue. I think modern multi speed transmissions are just more complicated. But then in the 80s you were doing good getting 100k out of a 4 or 5 speed so I don’t know. Honestly CVT’s seem to be the most reliable when build right but I hate them and I don’t think you could tow heavy with one. Give me an old manual and I’d be happy honestly.Welp they all suck then. New Colorado claims they fixed the 8speed. Claims anyway. I did notice their issues seemed to be a for sure sort of thing vs a maybe with ours.
I think it’s a luck of the draw or personal preference thing. i like the 10 speed so far. My ZF8 was terrible. ??‍I’ve had 3 vehicles with the ZF8, they were all buttery smooth. Never felt anything. I wish the Ranger had the ZF8
They claim they actually fixed things in the 23+ instead of just the blue label mobile 1. What? No idea. I've seen no specifics on what they made other than claims it is better internally (not just software). They even bumped the Silverado's warranty up to 100k they are so happy with themselves..why not the twins? Dunno....They put out a TSB to change the trans oil to Mobil full synthetic.
