Good advice offered here:
Ford Adaptive Learning Transmission Reset: Step-by-Step Guide

Using FORScan, I was able to eliminate the clunky shifting behaviors mentioned. My 2019 Ranger has just over 50k miles. Purchased used, so some prior owner habits may have been cleaned up with TCM reset.

thank you for this:

Throttle Position Sensor (TPS) Relearn
  1. Turn the key to “On” without starting the engine
  2. Slowly press the accelerator pedal all the way to the floor
  3. Hold for 5 seconds at full throttle
  4. Slowly release the pedal completely
  5. Turn the key off for 10 seconds
  6. Start the vehicle and check for improved throttle response

This works wonders on all fords. Unless you floor it daily this makes a huge difference

This part seems like a pain:
  1. Clear DTCs and Transmission Adaptive Tables using your scan tool
  2. Drive until the engine and transmission reach normal operating temperature
  3. Accelerate using light throttle (about 15%), ensuring upshifts from 1st through 8th occur between 1300-1600 rpm
  4. Continue accelerating to 55 mph until the 8-9 and 9-10 shifts complete
  5. Brake gently to a complete stop and hold for 5 seconds
  6. Shift to Neutral (wait 1 second)
  7. Shift to Reverse (wait 2 seconds)
  8. Shift to Neutral (wait 1 second)
  9. Shift to Drive (wait 2 seconds)
  10. Repeat steps 3-9 six more times (total of 7 cycles)
