You may want to verify that. Every car warranty I have ever seen is based on 0 miles on the odometer and the year/months duration start is based on the original purchase date of the vehicle. So, a 125k warranty will not be the miles on the odometer at the time of warranty purchase + 125k, it will be 125k miles on the odometer.
Me too, but they put the ending mileage in the contract. Made it worth it to go out that far. It's only 6 yrs from purchase, but I put 20k miles/yr on my vehicle.

I really don't care if the cost is covered up front, I can easily cover until whatever warranty kicks in. Which is one reason why I wonder if it's worth rolling the dice. I can pay for any expensive repair at any time.
So Granger is the better deal for sure. Thanks everyone. I am still not sold, as I said, I am able to pay for any major repair out-of-pocket. So it's just a gamble.
James, I was in the same predicament when MP1 was getting close to the 3 year mark. I too can pay for any major repair out of pocket but if you're planning on keeping your Ranger for a long period of time I'd rather hedge my bet with the Ford warranty. Just for the piece of mind with the transmission alone will more than pay for it. Never mind the PCM, BCM or any of the other electrical gremlins that can pop up. It's like to full replacement value endorsement I've been paying for for all them years on all my trucks. It's a waste of money until you NEED to use it.

Another thing to consider does the CU warranty let you 1) transfer it and 2) pro rate it if you feel it or total it? I got $600 back from my Ford ESP warranty when MP1 was totaled and it only took a couple weeks to receive the check.

Personally I wouldn't ever consider anything but a factory ESP warranty. The last thing you need is to be stranded somewhere and find out the 3rd party one is worthless. Sure you have the money to pay for the repairs but why should you have to? Isn't that (not having to deal with BS) the whole reason for buying the extended warranty in the first place? There's still some good dealers out there and even if you have an issue getting the repair done at least with the Ford ESP you can call Ford and "hopefully" they'll take care of it. I'd rather call them in a time of need than some customer service rep at my CU. Good luck with what ever you decide to do.

I just picked up a 7yr/48000 mi warranty from Granger for $800. I know it's an odd combo, but I've only put 15000 miles on my Ranger in three years.

I bought it on a Saturday. Monday morning, I had the email with the contract. Then it only took about two more days for it to show up in my Ford account.

Just as another suggestion, I would highly recommend at least pricing Granger. I had an 8 year 100k for around $1300. I paid about $800-900 after using my Ford Pass points toward it. I doubt it can be beat by third party.
Like I posted previously, I did price Granger and yes, it was cheaper.

Great insight, thanks. But how does a Ford warranty get you help faster if you are stranded somewhere? I will mention I have AAA plus.

It won't get you help faster. I meant you "shouldn't" have to deal with any BS from a 3rd party warranty (haggling about coverage) when the Ford one is accepted nationwide at all Ford dealers. But as we all know not all Ford dealers are the same or helpful so take that with a grain of salt. lol

Oh I got ya. Well after determining that my CU is not cheaper, the only question now is do I want to roll the dice on no extended warranty. I put about 152k on my '12 Focus which was a first year redesign, and because many people experienced transmission issues, Ford issued additional coverage. I had a tranny control module failure and they covered it. Otherwise the car was a great car. If I had to pay for the TCU replacement, I would not have gone broke.

It's all up to you. If you can afford the Extended Warranty then I say go for it. Worst case scenario you don't use it at all. Best case it does what it's meant to do.
