Hello, i have a ranger limited 2021 model 2.0l made in SA made for the european market (i'm in Italy).
Recently brought my truck for the the car service since it has almost 2 years, the engine light and popped out the last week stating low oil level and something regarding the exaust, they told me all 4 injectors need to be replaced and also the DPS filter.. i have roughly 17000km on it and never had an issue on its own except when i broke the adblue tank.
It is under warranty so it's not an issue but what could be the cause? Low quality diesel? Bad injectors batch? Open to any suggestion to possibly avoid replacing them on a second occasion.

When it comes to the Diesel market for the Ranger we can't help you too much.

With the little bit I do understand with Diesel it seems like you might be on the right track. Faulty injectors can definitely cause some issues of sorts like a DPF Failure.

Best advice I can really give you on this is to have the Dealer take care of it. Being such a.low mileage makes me think something caused it.

Your Ranger has a common rail high pressure fuel system. Very unforgiving of crap fuel and lack of maintenance. Tolerances on the internals of those injectors are very tight and any dirt or lack of lubrication in the fuel spells doom. And that’s not taking into consideration the quality of the injector prior to exposure. My suggestion is that you run quality fuel and possibly an additive ( Stanadyne Performance Formula is great stuff) and change your fuel filters religiously. Then cross your fingers.

Also injector issues will definitely cause DPF problems

Yes, i followed the recommendations ''change every 20k kms/every 2 years''.
I had it checked the last septemeber if i'm not wrong (regular car revision) and no issues were found... i'm not a car expert at all so other than following others' tips and bringing it to a proper mechanic i'm not improvising services by myself, the app fordpass also gives me an estimate regarding the oil life so i wasn't really worried about that

US is yearly/10k miles. That’s why I questioned it.

That is slightly longer than the U.S. maximum of about 15k kms/1 year but ours are all benzina and European models are diesels. I'm Italian and speak it a little. Have relatives in Italy who I communicate with on Facebook. Most of us here service our trucks more frequently than the maximum and would tell you to service and change the oil every 10,000 km. It will last longer that way. Buona sera.

Avere parenti in Italia con cui comunicare su Facebook. La maggior parte di noi qui servizio i nostri camion più frequentemente del massimo e ti direbbe di servizio e cambiare l'olio ogni 10.000 km. Durerà più a lungo in questo modo. Buona sera.

If they do replace the injectors ask if you can keep the ones they remove. You might be able to send them out to be rebuilt and tested. Then you got a spare set. Chances are you got dirty fuel. Not sure but you have a fuel filter on the rail or underside?

If it's under warranty it's going to be a fat chance

They’re common rail injectors and very few places can properly service them (if at all) These are not Bosch injectors but Bosch requires crazy amounts of precautions for servicing their common rail injectors. Including a clean room with HEPA filtration and rigid temperature and humidity controls. Technicians are required to wear scrub suits and clearance tolerances are as small as 1 micrometer. Very expensive investment for a fuel shop so thus a very expensive repair rivaling the cost of new injectors.
