Wow just think when you get back home with thick air (not counting pollution)!! You can run for miles, at night of course.. I/we have been enjoying your pics and journey posts!! Another great adventure!!

The clean, crisp air here is really nice and we'll miss it for sure! It is tough to breath at this elevation (10,000"+) especially trigging through snow. lol Pagosa Springs is at 7,500' which doesn't bother me but others here in the lobby were saying they had trouble breathing.

Yeah, I can't wait to get back to the thick AZ air.

CO does have some really nice places to visit and as you can see views for miles. You just have to be careful because many get altitude sickness if you overdo it and you're not use to it. I'm surprised it never bothers me here having asthma and all.

lol I forgot about this bag of chips. When we stopped at Lobo Overlook I went to grab my backpack from the back seat and saw this.

With the high altitude here it expanded the bag and I was waiting for it to pop. I've noticed this before when we leave Flagstaff (elevation 7,000') and head back to the valley. If you have a plastic water bottle you can hear it creaking and cracking from the air pressure.

We hiked up to four mile falls which is a waterfall just outside the center of town. The couple we met yesterday told Annie it was an easy hike and about 3 miles each way. Well it wasn't so easy for her (she has trouble when there's a lot of rocks) but she did it. There were several steep inclines/declines and about 4 creek crossings but the views once there were well worth it. She stopped at the first lookout (I don't blame her) and I went over another water crossing up to the first falls which I still can't find the name of. This one you could get right underneath which was nice because by then was hotted getting wet from the falls felt awesome.

As we pulled out there were a few hot air balloons over the resort. I keep trying to talk her into doing this but she's not having any of that.

As soon as you leave the trail head it declines down and it didn't get much better for a while.

There was only two open fields that were flat otherwise you're constantly walking up/down step rocky grades.

There weren't all that many great views along the way. The couple we met yesterday told us there were some great views and so did the comments on All Trails and Trip Advisor. It was a nice hike but we felt the views up were just so so.

You get your first glimpse of the falls about 1 mile from the end.

Not much as far as views except this.

Another shot of the falls about 1/2 mile from the end. We were at a different angle from the one above so we could see four mile falls now.

Finally at the end you can see the single falls. I read it's a 300' waterfall.

You can cross Falls Creek and hike up a pretty steep trail to get rite up to it which I did. Annie stayed and talked with another couple which I'm glad she did because it was pretty steep getting up to it.

You can walk right down here to the base so you're right under the falls. Even from up top you're getting sprayed from the falls and down below you're wet at this point.

There's a trail off to the left as you go back down which takes you up to Four Mile Falls. Pictures don't do it justice as it's pretty steep and at this elevation it's tough to breath.

It's about 1/4mile up to the top and there's a small spot where you can see the falls.

I really wanted to get down to the base and get a better view and this is the climb down.

I made it to the farthest point you can see in this pic and it was only about 1/3 the way down. Being alone (there was no one else up at this one) I didn't want to go any further. It was tiring and a huge PITA getting back up!

Oh well it was still a great view of the falls.

Of course there was an unexpected thunder ( some lightning up near the top of the mountain) storm that came through on our way back down. We ran into another couple on their way up hiding out under a huge spruce tree so we joined them until it let up.

We went to a really great Mexican restaurant tonight. Russ @Russd suggested it in my Pagosa Springs thread the other day and he was dead on, this place was great! It's a little place in a strip mall, nothing fancy (those are usually the best ones) but the food was great and the people were all great too. Prices were very reasonable (especially for PS) with the Burritos with rice and beans only $10.50.
