I am a new member and just bought a 2021 Tremor with 30k miles. Love the truck so far. One oddity I notice is a subtle thump/clunk when I stop and start. Like there is a small bit of play in the drive train. Thanks for any advice on where to look.

Sounds more like the drive shaft slip joint needs to be greased.

Thank you. The sound sounds the same but mine occurs on level ground. However I will be investigating the calipers as a bit of play could be a possibility.

Slip joint??? I will have to look into this. Most of my vehicles in the last 10 years don't even have a grease zero. Is there a recommended grease. Guess I could make the dealer do it.

Great pic! Got any upgrades planned or keep it the way it is?
It came with two of my desired upgrades, hard tonneau and bed liner. In looking at the pics of others, I am almost wondering if a leveling lift was put in, but if not, that will happen (I came from a 2016 Jeep Cherokee Trailhawk that I installed a lift, rock rails and larger tires) after I wheel it a bit. If nothing else to improve the approach angle. I want to be able to do Fins and Things in Moab again as well as other trails. Maybe some upgraded off-road lights, but mostly I bought it for better cargo capacity and ability to tow a small travel trailer after we sell our 40' diesel pusher in a month or two.

Oh.....I will pin stripe it a bit (that is how my wife finds our cars).

Sounds like the driveshaft splined slip joint. My Tremor does it as well at 18k miles. Dealer should take care of it, if they can reproduce the issue. Mine is intermittent and hasn't done it on scheduled service visits. May just pull the driveshaft myself and grease it if it gets to bothering me enough.

Excellent video. If dealer doesn't do it, I will when I get into our new house and have a place to work.

Just had mine greased by the dealer two weeks ago.It worked well for a week but now it seems to going back to the start/stop bump. It's just a poor design.I've had three different Ford vehicles with similar driveshafts and they all did this

Mine did it in warm weather too. I think it’s been more of an annoyance than a particular problem.
