That was not directed at you but the spelling police posted before. No offense Sid.
Just a bit of humor in an otherwise uptight world. No offense was intended.

Yeah crumple zones are a double edged sword for sure. They definitely work to save lives but minor accidents can total vehicles easily.

Not sure which is worse...crumple zone strategy versus 5mph bumpers...strangely, the 5mph bumper rule was to prevent permanent damage...when did that get phased away?

From what I have seen with Rangers is rear crumple zone is the wheel arch in the frame at the rear axle. Make sure they really look in that area well.

The bumpers you’re talking about really disappeared in the 90s. Most bumpers now a days are just plastic on top of styrofoam

Hi Sid,

The 2.5mph rule caused increased cost to repair damage if above 2.5mph so the government rescinded the rule, and the stylists jumped on the reshaping the look of vehicles with more stylish "bumpers".

Best,
Phil

Thanks Phil...this rule change must've gone unannounced to us "stylists" lol...I do remember when the sealed lamp went away and that was a huge restraint taken off our backs...

Just heard back from the Collision center. No structual damage. 7k in total repairs. The rear bumper and right tail light are 3700 just for parts. Should be ready next Friday.

In the meantime they gave me this as a rental...

Hope you are okay. Any side pictures to see if the bed frame pushed towards the cab?

From the top of the passenger tail light it looks like bed might be tweaked.
A crooked bed iss a standard feature on Rangers.

If you think the fx4 struts and shocks are bad you should drive this thing.
One way or another, things will work out for you.
And, please. Give us an honest unbiased opinion of that Nissan.

I drove a new Frontier when mine was in the shop being repaired early last year. Damned thing drove like a concrete block with wheels. I hated every minute of it.
