As long as you are giving the undercarriage a good wash after driving in the snow or salted road you should be good.

I don't drive it to work if snowed over night or is supposed to snow that day. I use the old vehicle. They pretty much use the liquid brine on the main roads and cinder the secondary roads outside of town. If the roads are still sloppy the following days after Winter snow or ice, I still take the old vehicle. I won't take the Ranger through an automatic car wash. So best I can do is give it a good wash at home here once weather warms up when Winter dwindles.

Many people use this product up here, I use a similar product.
My Suzuki was 15 yrs old & the mechanics could not believe how well the undercarriage was. I'll say no to your question, I like to undercoat all my
vehicles.

I had the fluid film done once an I got the check engine light for the clogged evap breather valve or what ever it is. I didn't go back this past winter. It was really mild. I had to have that valve replaced under warranty. They didn't ask if I had it treated or anything. I thought I read they changed the design of the valve to avoid this problem but I don't know if I got the updated part when they fixed it. Northern Ohio is hard on cars an most trucks show rusted quarter panels after they're 10 years old or so.

My brother uses POR (paint over rust) to seal his if he sees a rust spot.

I see you are in PA. I’m in Berks County, PA. Thanks for posting this. I have 20,044 miles on my 2019 xlt. I will check my frame tomorrow. I was wondering ifyour frame rust might have been caused by the brine applied to the streets to control ice and snow.

I’m retired at this point and only need to head out in bad weather to help someone. I do like to drive around town when we do get snow. I love the way my Ranger just hooks up in deep snow and goes wherever I drive it.

I'm in Pa as well and use a product called Undercoating in a Can. It's a clear, petroleum-based rust preventative fluid that I spray under the truck each October. I hardly drive it because I have a company truck, but I know it can't hurt anyway.

See if you can find a touch-free car wash, the kind that just sprays soap and water. I stopped using the regular automatic car washes 25 years ago, but do use the touch free to do an undercarriage wash, and get some of the dirt off. We have property on a dirt road, so every time I come home I hit the car wash.

Some states the touch free car washes are crap. I learned this 2 years ago when in Michigan. In Colorado I haven't had that problem

Yeah, they pretty much all suck, but they will spray the undercarriage and get the top layer of dirt off the paint. They won't touch a splattered bug though :)

As far as car washes and undercoating goes, I'm not regimented enough to carry them out on a regular basis.
I rarely keep a vehicle long term and they are tools. Nothing more.
So if they look junky as they age, so be it, Someone out there loves junky, it will find a new home, or a wreckers. Doesn't matter to me once I've moved on.

I had a 93 toyota PU that I used on the beach. I had it 20+ years and the frame was covered with rust far worse than that. Should you be worried? Can't say, but I wouldn't be. If you want, get some of that rust eater paint and give it a sprits. IMO, it's probably fine.
Be really careful with that "rust eater" paint. Usually that is recommended for surfaces with lots more rust and no useful paint. It can damage paint. I wouldn't use it here. Go with the wire brush and rustoleum option, or just watch it a while.
