Goodyear Wrangler Ultraterrain - Is anyone running these?

I've always liked the looks of Duratracs, but there are far too many complaints of them being noisy or getting noisy after some miles are put on them. The reviews I've been watching on YouTube and reading online for this tire are fairly good. People are saying they aren't noisy like DuraTracs can be and are wearing exceptionally well. Is anyone here running these tires or know someone who is?

The one issue for me is that the 285/70R17 is a load range E at 58 lbs. I had my eye on the BFG KO2 since it's a load range C at 51 lbs. I've been holding off waiting for the new KO3, but they still haven't been released yet.

#1. They pick up the smallest stones on the road and fling them all over the place, they literally are like stone collectors

#2. They took an ungodly amount of weight to balance.

#3. They are not that heavy but damn they feel heavy while driving. They sucked my mpg’s down, not that the Tundra are gas sippers but I went from avg 14.7 to 12 same size tires.

Awesome in the mud, Awesome in the Snow. Low highway hum considering they r Goodyear Wranglers.
They are a good bridge in between the duratracs and the M/T’s. Wish they were not just a DT house brand though. Probably would have kept them but my driveway in MT was .25 mile long gravel road and it was painful to hear the amount of stones they picked and kicked up.

Just put on 275 65 18 Durtracs Load C on and I'm surprised with how quite they were, expected much worse.

If you're so worried about noise then maybe All Terrain isn't for you and you just need a more "car" tire. Also, something else to note is from my research the loud noise reviews came from people that had a "light" truck like ours and then running 10-ply tires. When you get into the 8 and 10 ply tires its going to add more weight/friction; I believe that's where noise can come from too.

Thats an understatement!!! Hahaha. Stones and rocks stick to these things like glue!!!! Probably flung a few out while someone was tailgating me and cracked a windshield ir two…..

Second and a bit more important is it's only at Discount tire. How is that a bad thing you ask? Well what if you live in the middle of nowhere and the nearest Discount tire is a few hours away? Better yet you go on a trip and where you are going doesn't have a Discount Tire?

As for the tire itself it may be a good tire. Just a.pain that it's only at Discount tire

Maybe look at the Falken Wildpeaks. Similar design and has a lot of fans.

I've got about 15k-20k miles (can't remember when I put them on) on my duratracs and I'm pretty happy with the ride. They're not noisy, but I will say I can feel the lugs when rolling at slow speeds. Judging by the shoulder lugs in the picture, these tires will probably feel the same way. Not a bad thing, just an observation. I'm really happy with the tire for my daily commute and off road.

Note I have 255/75r17 SL tires that are lighter than the stock LT Hankooks, so experiences may differ in the size and load range you're looking at.

The KO2 is a really good tire on and off road. Only downsides IMO are the cost and weight. I get a 25% discount with Goodyear through my bank and I had to buy a few sets of tires last year so all my vehicles are sporting Goodyear rubber right now. The KO2s didn't stand a chance against that deal.

Was just in the mountains on a long weekend. While the truck performed beautifully, I have not, and will not check it for paint chips. Every single time I came off the mountain and headed to town it sounded like rounds impacting the truck. Just unreal.

Luckily at my age I'm not wrapped as tight about vehicles. At 25 those stones being thrown would have most likely made me cry. Hell now I have a very dirty 3 month old truck and have no real plans to wash it any time soon. Other than keeping the inside habitable. It's a truck.

But I do love it! Dirt and all.

Well, the sizing isn't a problem for me or I wouldn't be considering this tire. Neither is the fact that it's exclusive to Discount Tire. I'm in the South West and you can hardly through a rock without hitting a Discount or Americas Tire (being facetious), they are everywhere.

The question is whether or not it's the tire for me based on how it performs on and offroad. The fact that it seems to pick up and throw small pebbles and stones more than the average A/T may be a deal breaker. That and the weight, though I don't mind the stronger protection in the tread area of a load range E rated tire.
