We decided to take 50$ each go gamble with and slots are my goto, sounds like I should just keep the $50 and put it towards truck stuff
I've never been much of a gambler either. The first night I only played Black Jack and we had a good group at our table which made it fun. Most seemed to be winning more than losing so that made the night more fun too. Ironically the last night we were all at the table again and I kid you not no one could win to save their life! After 3-4 hands I walked away but was still up overall.

Have been on a couple. couple pieces of advice:

1. If you go off ship DO NOT BE LATE GETTING BACK they will leave you if you are too late
2. If you enjoy the tables set yourself a daily budget and stick to it
3. Eat drink and be merry but don’t have a day where you can’t remember the night before. Getting that drunk gets you nothing
4. Go to the shops but never pay their prices. They jack them up for the tourists. Want a hat buy a hat but before you do decide how much you are willing to spend and haggle the posted price down .

I've heard that an on board restaurant called Johnny rockets is a must try. Hopefully the voyager of the seas has one.

I love to haggle so that should be fun.

My father was the best at haggling. He used to travel a lot and he had this one place in Bangkok that he frequented often enough that he was friends with the owner. Last time he was there, the old man wasn’t behind the counter. There was a young lady there. Dad asked about him and she said he had retired and she was running the shop now. So the began the dealing.

It was a jewlery and gem shop. So dad told her was he wanted she brought out and dad haggled the price. After a couple of hours they had a nice little pile of stuff and dad looked at her and said “now that I have so much I get a quantity discount right?” She looked at him for a second, then burst into tears and ran in the back. Pretty soon the old man came out of the back with a big grin on his face And sai something slong the lines of “ah Mr Jones! You done well you the first that make granddaughter cry” then gave dad his quantity discount. He was still chuckling as dad left the shop

We were on RC Majesty of the Seas and I don't remember Johnny Rockets on that ship. But that was back in the mid 2000's and I was a "little" drunk that whole week so there could've been one. lol

One nice thing is after you board back on the ship later in the day they lay out a nice spread before dinner. They had everything from fruit to tacos to shrimp cocktail. We ate so much there we didn't eat dinner until after 9 that night. I will guarantee one thing you won't go hungry and will most likely weigh more after your trip. ?

We've been on two cruises with Norwegian Cruise Lines: a 5-day Alaskan cruise and a 7-day New England-Maritime Provinces cruise. Both were very enjoyable and carefree. We opted for the outer balcony rooms on both. For us, it added to the enjoyment of the trip to have some quiet downtime with a view. Awoke one morning, poured a coffee, and sat out on the balcony watching icebergs drift by; Stunning. NCL offers several packages for dining and the daily excursions were rewarding and well thought out. One advantage of NCL for us was we could go to any onboard restaurant within our package, or pay an upcharge to go to a more exclusive one, and they have no requirement for reserved seats at a table with others. We have the 7-day Alaskan Cruise on our bucket list. I bought a can cozy on the Alaskan cruise and a baseball cap on the NEMP; not much for gift shops.

I definitely purchased the alcohol package so at the bare minimum I'll at least get to enjoy scotch watching the sunset.
I've been on a bunch of cruises but I never heard of an alcohol package. I think they hid it from me! When you signed up for that package was there a box at the bottom you had to check that "Please confirm you are NOT from Wisconsin."

They saw your social media posts and made sure you were omitted from that package.

Johnny Rockets has locations in ATL. If it’s the same as the ship, it will just be a burger joint. A 1950’s theme as I recall.

I had to look this up and uuugh it's what I thought it was. Big TV in the room instead of a real balcony. Pretty dystopian.
That's what it sounded like. Maybe it won't be too bad.

Anyone ever gone on a cruise before?

We're leaving for a 5 day cruise going to costa maya and cozumel in late may and I've never done such a thing. We're going with royal Caribbean in an interior room with a virtual balcony whatever that means.
Sounds exciting! Hope you have a great time!

Been on a few cruises and what I like is you can adapt things to your preferences. If you want to keep busy, there is always something going on. Want some quiet time, find an isolated part of the ship and hang out there. I would find a spot and disapper from the family for an hour or so. They almost never found me.
Always had inside cabins since we were ways going and only went to the room to change, sleep or shower. Next cruise may get room with a balcony and spend time watching the water go by. The cabins are small.
If you are going on excursions, I would book through the ship. Gives you a little more assurance of safety and getting back on time. We've done quite a few and never disappointed. We've also just walked to the beach and hung out there for a few hours. Just keep an eye on the time.
Take some time at night to find a dark part of the ship and stare at the stars.
Family grew up boating so we don't get seasick and have been on two pretty rough cruise where most people skipped dinner. Was funny seeing barf bags on the railings lining the hallway from the dining room.
Take dramamine or motion sickness patches with you if you are unsure. I've seen plenty of people on cruises with a patch behind the ear
Most importantly, Enjoy!

Retired, work is a four letter word.
We haven't looked into any of the excursions yet, we both really just want to park our hind ends under an umbrella on a beach somewhere.
That's why we are doing 10 days on Maui starting next week!! Sun, Surf, & Booze, with some sight seeing and tourist things thrown in. This is for our 20th so the wife gets super pampered.
On topic, we took an inside passage cruise to Alaska (I was stationed there for 3 years) a few years ago, awesome scenery and generally a good time.
