Unless you're in a big hurry, I would go down through Lewiston and Mccall to get from Spokane to Boise. Very nice drive along the Snake River. Lot's of great history. We camped on the river (free) near White Bird hill in February one year. Chief Joseph had an epic (but reluctant) battle with the US Cavalry in this Canyon in 1877. That's the Snake River in front of the camper - not a road.

Thanks Jeff that looks like a nice area. Depending on how much longer this takes we might be pressed for time as we're leaving June 2nd for a month long trip. But this doesn't seem like it'll take much time so I'll definitely keep it in mind.

Thanks Rob! You know when I got out and saw the damage I had a bad feeling it was a lot worse than it looked. Thanks for the link but I really want a new Ranger with a full warranty. A new color will help me forget this nightmare too. It's like dumping your ex and then dating someone else who looks just like her. ?

That would be a nice way to go and McCall is finally getting snow melt so should be good in a few weeks. The 220" we got this year were insane. Probably only a couple feet left but roads are clear.

If you go this way heading to Boise, south of Cascade when you leave the Long Valley you will drive along the Payette River Scenic Byway.

Well it is a sad day that another sabre ranger has bit the dust. I loved mine while I had it. I hope you enjoy the next vehicle just as much. If it ends up being a ford hope you are cool with grey or some other boring color!

According to the Google It's 60 miles shorter taking Hwy 95 and takes 20 minutes longer. If you're driving a new truck you won't be setting the cruise at 80 anyway.
