Ugh, I think I missed it and can't find it. What dashcam are you thinking of going to next @AzScorpion?

I'm still on the fence, but seeing your woes here may make me decide. My next hurdle is wiring it in. I don't have a self-dimming mirror so I don't think tapping into the wiring for the braking cam would be a good idea. So I'm interested in an ODB plugin type and maybe just having the cam on the dash (I know, I know, the angle, the wipers, the law, blah, blah. blah). I aim to put the dash back into dashcam! =p

That or maybe just pay to get the dealer to install the ThinkWare one (I'd actually like to have a rear facing one too).

$309 plus $120 for installation: https://accessories.ford.com/products/dashcam-with-rear-facing-camera-bundle-1

Seems kind of like economical piece of mind for Soupie at $429 ...

What are your valued 2 cents on that? And anyone else's thoughts. =)

David, I had a Thinkware U1000 4K dual camera. The next one I'm probably going to get will be this Viofo A129 4K dual channel cam.

Here's all the 4K camera on Blackbox My Car. They always have decent sales especially close to holidays and Mothers Day is coming up soon.

This green is only color what would make me break my black-rule.
But let’s keep interior totally black, ok??
I hate my black Ranger but wouldn't have a Ranger if that green was the only color available at the time ?. My last 2 trucks were white and that's definitely the best color. Can't wait to see AzScorpion post his new 5g forum photo.

Thanks Robert! I thought about hanging the engine cover on the wall because it's a classic but it'll go on the new one. ? Next dash cam will get the longest extended warranty available with this heat out here.
First, So sad to hear about your Ranger, but main thing is no injuries. Hanging the engine cover on the wall is a good idea. Upper right in the photo is the original cover from my Focus. Had to replace it due to it cracking when I tried to remove it when it was too cold. The cracked one became garage art.

Also, I have some files that you might find interesting. If you want to pm me with a method to send them to you.

Thanks for the link, I now remember you shared that with me in the past - thank you.

And that camera looks really good. I need to see if I think I can shove the wiring behind the pillar trim without removing it (I'm scared to death to break clips).

And that price diff between the better camera you're looking at versus the ThinkWare may just get me to muster up the courage to attack the plastic (metal I have no issue with, I know I can braze and weld metal to restore anything broken - I welded up the FJ40 leaf springs and used them like that for years).

But plastic? That's my nemesis for sure! I even butchered the easy-to-remove caps on the seat rails!

Okay, I gotta be brave, think Thomas the tank Engine!

David it's really easy if you have the plastic pry tools. I tucked it under the headliner to the A pillar. Than ran it down to the ground and the step cover just pops off with a little force and tuck the wire under and up the B pillar. The the same for the rear door but you don't have one. :) Here's a post showing how I connected the rear camera and snaked the wire. I never had to pull any panels off except the step cover.

The clips are relatively new so they have a very low chance of breaking. Just go them as aligned as possible. You’ll figure out pretty quickly as you start to pry. These plastic tools are great. No scarring if used correctly!!!

Thanks Greg! Also thanks for the files it's very interesting looking through them and the process. Now I have to clean up the engine cover seeing as it's never been cleaned since I bought it in 2019.

These are the same ones I have and yes, they work great! I used them to take apart all the weatherstripping under the hood too. ?

The only reason I bought these was to help out my wife’s dog park friend who needed driver door windows switch assembly replaced. She was getting 600-700 hundred dollar quotes for a 45 dollar switch and a half hour of labor. Older lady fixed income type. I only charged for parts and these tools. She rewarded me with a decent bottle of single malt scotch later. I’ve put them to good use ever since..
