Been away a while, but I stumbled on this post.
Man, that sucks Dave I know it hurts to see your truck like that but at the end of the day, it's a mechanical thing and glad you came out in one piece.
Now...my crystal ball reveals a brand new Frontier in your future......
KIDDING!
Good luck with whatever you choose in the future.
By the way, I noticed from your pics those driveshaft splines look bone-dry man, not good......
Thanks Mike! Yes you're right it's only a material mechanical thing and it could've been much worse especially if I didn't swerve and hit her head on. As far as the Frontier goes...That's a hard NO! ? If it was repairable I was going to option for the 1 piece Tom Woods Driveshaft.:lipssealed:

Crikey! I just saw this thread and OMG!!!

First, glad you're okay,
Two, I can't even imagine how mad you must have been with the kids coming out and lying.
Three, relieved you're okay! Phew, my wallet's been getting fat without you on the forum and it's making my back hurt when I sit, but now I'll be getting great advice again on what I need to buy.
Fourth, glad to see you still have some damper humor left (I'd been tempted to pull off the damper and beat them with it).
Fifth, make sure to crawl under and remove any rocker hole plugs you may have installed.

Don't forget all the hood weatherstripping! =p

And to think, this morning I was stressing about the bird crap on Soupie from street parking yesterday. This kind of put that in perspective!

Plus some really great guy advised me on using graphene and the poop washed right off.

Can't wait to see you with your new truck so you can put all of this in the rear view mirror of life!

Glad you're good!

Thanks David! No worries the shopping club will be open for business soon enough. ?

Thanks for the reminder on the rocker plugs I did forget about those. What weather stripping is missing on the hood? I thought it was the sound deadening underneath so I'm taking that too just in case. lol

Glad the Graphene washed the ? right off Soupie. I've done the same after having it bake in the sun at work all day and it came right off without staining the clear coat.

Wow - I've been so busy with other life stuff I've been off the forum for a little while. So sorry to hear about your truck, Dave! I didn't read through this whole thread, but it appears you'll be getting the best possible outcome from a really stinky situation. Money Pit was a gorgeous truck. I'm sure you'll make the new one awesome as well!

I truly hate to hear that about your Ranger, but as others have said on here I’m glad that you’re okay. Also, it’s good to see you back on here…I only wish it were under happier circumstances. I’m wishing you the best Dave. Hopefully the near future goes favorably for you.

Thanks Terry I appreciate it! At least (I hope) the worst is over with and this week will be the final chapter in this nightmare of a month. This June vacation can't come quick enough. lol

The one thing I am super happy about with the Ranger. Every wreck pic shows they hold up really well from any angle of impact. Edit: the cab holds up well... who gives a damn about the rest of the truck if you and whoever is in it walks away. Don't want to hurt anyone else's feelings.

That said; glad you are ok. Sucks to see what happened.

Maybe LMS will be nice and let you swap VINs based on the business you have sent them. Your review of their product is one reason why I got mine. **If that was addressed... sorry. I didn't go thru the 13 pages this got too really quick.

So axles and wheels being ripped off is considered holding up well? Are they the new crumple zones?

Thanks Patrick. I've said the same that every accident pic I've seen has kept the driver & passenger safe. There are always going to be other points of failure but the main cab seems to do its job well.

It's going to be weird driving it stock until I get back home. Heck when gas shot up last year I flashed it to the 87-89 performance tune, drove to the gas station and hated it so much I flashed it back to the 91-93 performance tune in the parking lot. lol

Well that would be nice but I never expect anything. I try to give honest reviews both good and bad to help others out and like reading theirs too. But at $300 to flash to a new VIN I'll admit it has me thinking of maybe trying Torries Unleashed tune now. Everyone seems to really love @TORQUERULES tune he helped Torrie with and honestly I only use one tune out of all 5 of the LMS ones.

To be fair in my case she did hit the rear tire and never let off the gas. That's what pushed the whole axle into the trailer hitch until she finally stopped. But I guess I'm glad she didn't (let off the gas) because the damage wouldn't have been so bad and I'd be getting a wrecked truck that I don't want back.

Same on the tunes from LMS. I tried others and went back to the 93 SS. If Torrie could help me with the up to 5th slam and down to 8th semi slam.... might have my business as well. It's a bit random when it does it... I would have to data log for a week to show what the hell is going on.

When doesn't it do it? Driving like an asshat. Smooth as hell on shifts pushing it. I guess I just need to drive flat out... straight out of the driveway.

Good luck either way. Hope your transition to a new truck is as painless as possible and doesn't eat up most of your next three weeks dealing with it.
