…on a canyon run (Box Canyon in Florence, AZ)! It’s a local “Toyotas Only” group and they decided to open it up to any vehicle for a night. The group was still largely Toyotas, the only other outsider was a Jeep. There was a stock Tacoma TRD Pro but everything else was pretty built up. I’ve only got the Bilstein 5100s and I moved up in tires to a 255/75/17. I was pretty well outmatched and I could tell some of the members had their doubts, I honestly had my own doubts but I was committed to try.

By the end of the ride, all doubts were gone. We went over some very steep, off camber, terrain in the dark, we didn’t start until about 8 pm. We had a few spots of rock crawling. I had absolutely no issues keeping up and in a few spots I even outperformed some of the 4Runners. It was a great time. Took us a little over 4 hours to do 25 miles, we were probably moving for about 3.5 hours though, it was a very slow go at times. At the end I was given an open invite whenever I want to join them again and got some pretty positive feedback, some of those old school off-roaders were pretty impressed with the Ranger.

best time to 4 wheel is during the dark.
won't see the damage until the morning.
by then its too late to second guess choices
No major damage this time. Steps have already taken some hard hit but they are holding strong. My lower control arm did take a hit this time but nothing to worry about.
The stock Tacoma lost 3 of his 4 steps, they sheered right off.

Whoa, the title had me. Good job representing the Ranger!
He throws me off every time he posts. I see "QC...." and my mind goes to Québec, and then he starts talking about Arizona instead....

Haha. The QC is for Queen Creek, AZ. The 48 is because AZ was the 48th state added

Yeah, I see that in your profile summary, and every time I go "Oh, right...I knew that...", but it never fails to throw me off.

"Open it up to other vehicles for the night."

What a bunch of goobers. Why on earth would you not include anyone who wants to participate in an off-roading hobby to expand the over-all community in general.

Much like gun owners, people who off-road are their own worst enemies. Just stupid.

I'm the asshole who would just follow them. Then also break camp right next to them. Then follow them again. Rinse and repeat the whole time. If wanted to achieve maximum level passive aggressive I would make sure I got on the trail in front of them and make sure their pace was dictated by my pace. I would then say, "I guess I'll let you Toyota dudes come along" as I creep down the trail.
