Lmao okay.

Just secure your fucking load. Not hard. The number of times I've seen crap fly out/bounce out of the back of pickups from normal driving is astounding cause the guy couldn't be bothered to buy straps.

That's sad and brings back memories of my 6 yr old daughter that could have been in that situation. A ratchet , not attached to a strap came through the windshield of the Jeep Cherokee she was riding in and luckily did not make it to her seat . Glass was everywhere. It was launched out of a truck bed as the oncoming truck was hit by a car entering from a side street . To say that things like this are unrealistic is ridiculous.

Ratchet strap through the middle of each wheel attached to the truck, please. Always secure your load.

Once I was following a truck that had a tire on rim in its bed. It hit another vehicle and the tire bounced up then out and again right in front of my car. Fortunately it just ricocheted off to one side. That used up one of my lives.

We can do this all day... Let's be realistic.
Ok lets be realistic; every state has secure cargo laws. And unlike a lot of other nanny state regulations, this one has a purpose grounded in reality.

That aside; stop arguing to justify being lazy and inconsiderate. Show some basic level of respect for those you share the road with. It takes 30 seconds to put a ratchet strap down. You seriously can't be bothered?

Plot twist... I have a tonneau cover. Stop it, Karen.

Seriously though, if you lay 4 wheels/tires down and they come out the bed, you're probably already in bad shape and securing them may not even hold.

I'm sure there are plenty of examples of things you do I could go off on. Lesbihonest.

OK Chad. Then I can only assume you played obtuse on purpose as you having a cover is irrelevant to the OP's question.

The term Karen you want to toss out, the princess bride meme comes to mind.

You are right I do a lot of dumb stuff in the course of my life, the difference is if there is a risk involved I'm only risking my own meat sack, not other people's.

It doesn't matter if a perfect storm event happens or not, everyone thinks that till they pancake grandpa on his rascal going down the sidewalk.

Even people who transport a single 2x4x8 in their bed unsecured are huge douche canoes. It is lazy. Period. No amount of strawmanning will change that fact is the characteristic of a self entitled asshole.

You're almost too easy to trigger...

ORM coming to mind, this is really low on my radar of things to worry about. I agree on the 2x4 comment, that's a high risk vs reward... I mean, you could lose some really good wood. :D

Normally I'd just toss them in the back but since you're driving a decent distance I'd say stack the tires in pairs, get a pair of tie-downs at Walmart, Harbor Freight, or auto parts store, put one hook on a bed loop, run the tie-down under the bottom tire, up through the center hole in the top tire, then over to the other bed loop and snug it down.

As mentioned, they're not going anywhere but if God forbid you're in an accident they could go flying.

Ford does have a cargo net available for the Ranger in both bed sizes, I do recommend using carabineers because the plastic hooks suck big time. Cargo net does do wonders in minimizing groceries from ending up all over the bed driving home.
