Searched for 12 second Rangers. I only found one video of a 12.83 on methanol on a public street verified by draggy app. I cant verify if the road is flat, but it looks it. I can see he is stopped and brake torques to ~3k rpm and launches in 4wd. Yes it launches hard the hammer drop 4wd launch will do that. I only said people aren't going to be hitting 12 with out methanol. There isn't much left on the table for the 4wd launches to get. I mean they have no mph. That truck hits 105 in the quarter. Think it will ever run a low 12? How? Man 4wd system do not disengage at all until selected to do so under specific conditions, some do at a certain speed. Once the launch is over all they do is hurt performance. Also who drives in 4wd all the time? But they do help the most important part the launch. This truck in 2wd would run a mid 13 second run.

Notice the snow? This video also shows an example of manipulated conditions that result in better performance. Why not show what this runs at a track? I don't see people holding timeslips for 12 second runs. I'm not saying its not possible, but to need programming, bolts ons and methanol to hit 12s is kind of sad.

Forgive me this post has denigrated into a disagreement that is really non existent. Its merely a matter of perspective. My truck is faster than stock, but it still is very slow for what I'm used to. Until I go E85 and more traction solutions this will be the case. Im wondering what can be done about loosening up our tq converters. Maybe there is a bit more there as well.

For weight loss start simple and go from there. First off do you need a spare, jack and tools? Well maybe. But 99% of the time you don't. Its decent start but the problem is hurts our already abysmal weight bias. There are a number of heat shields that arent must have, sound deadening, Lighter exhaust. Not to push the use of cat free downpipes, but they are much lighter, There are bolts that dont have to be there, speakers that dont have to be there. Airbags add up. Wheels and tires are some weight I dropped another 24 lbs there. There is a high dollar auto safe lithium battery that has 1k cca and weighs 16.5 lbs which is a very nice drop. Im a little hesitant about running a battery that has a bms on a vehicle that has its own BMS. I will do it eventually but not right now. The first 150-200lbs is pretty easy. Then it starts getting harder. Over the years I have done a lot of crazy things to drop weight. I have made a few cars without a doubt unwieldy, a pain to drive and unsafe to wreck in. Imagine a black mustang in florida in summer with no ac, or power anything and weld skinnies up front. Now that I have kids I have dialed it back. IF you want to take weight off a vehicle the best way is to do it. Is start in the morning and start taking stuff off. keep everything, dont destroy anything to take weight off. For example a civic type r rear wiper motor wiper and harness weighs 7 lbs. I still have it oops.

I got tired again and only read the first couple sentences. You seem to have a lot to say but it doesn’t really get anywhere. I’m confident in the existence of 12 second GAS trucks. If you’re not believing that or aren’t able to deal with it then I welcome another 2000 words I probably won’t read. I mean seriously, cut the novel back some and people can actually understand what you’re saying. Either way…. 12 second gas powered ranger’s unite! Mid to low 12’s on ethanol mix. But I’m only guessing right?

Ok post your video or time slip after your run. Short enough for you? Show me 1 video of a 12 second gas Ranger. I guess google just hides the plethora of 12 sec time slips ranger posts from me alone sir. The problem is there are lots of people that have never even been to a drag strip claiming what their truck does or can do. I read and see lots of hearsay, but no time slips.

Once again Ill say I trust Docs time. He has put in the seat time. His truck is real world representative of what a ranger 2wd on gas can run. Thats once you learn how to drive it to the best of its capabilities. His truck made great power. Its lighter, lower and on tires that are decent for acceleration. Do you really think running a heavy tall tire helps acceleration in any way? Im not trying to attack you sir, but you make a claim, post 0 proof and then haven't even posted your run time. I do dig the lowered on 33s look though sir. Its quite original.

That was so much easier to read! Thank you. It’s winter, my track is closed, besides my truck is too heavy. ?

I have a feeling we would get along well sir. If we can stop scarecrowing each other! I actually want the damn thing to run mid 12s on pump gas! Yeah I feel you I'm at ~3k altitude and hours from a track. also its nice to be able to drive fast again. Ice in the mountains is either a no drive or a drive very lightly mode. I still cant believe they sold off the Atlanta drag strip. I just know mine is nowhere near a 12 sec ride by feel. It honestly feels like when I started with a fox body with optional 3.08 gears and no mods like ok this is a good starting point. They were low 14 high 13 secs cars.

But unfortunately it won’t meet the criteria for the need for pump gas and no meth in this current situation ??‍♂
I would like to see that motor in my 13 second truck though!!!!

This. Don't show me some dragy results.... timeslip or gtfo.

my truck is too heavy. ?

Also this ?‍♀

I'm with the O.P.

People are far too flabbergasted at the amount of power our trucks make, stock or otherwise. If my 5000lb truck put 340hp to the wheels... it still wouldn't have as good of a power/weight ratio as a stock focus ST lol.

I do this stuff for a living, I build late model Fords all the time. Foxes were what we started out with in high school and now we build and tune some of the fastest Coyote Mustangs and many ecoboosts in different chassis’. I’m planning to run my truck as soon as I’m able to and I’ll expect it to break 12’s but it’s not happening on the 33’s. Here’s my 86gt just because we’re buddies now.

Is that a 55 bird next to it?
Yup, some poor idea of a restomod actually. I did a lot of redoing to that thing. Had a 90 Mustang 5.0 and aod with a 9” and 4 link. All poop.
