How did you run the power line?

Been eying dashcams for a while, but I also like seeing how people install theirs.
I popped out the shroud cover thats behind the mirror, had to file a small hole for the cable. Then the cable is run to the driver side pillar, down under the dash then stright to the left side 12v outlet (I use the 12vdc outlet plug) Eventually I will get a hardwired kit so I can keep the center consel cleared. I then zipped tied what ever excess under the dash, making sure that the cabled are not in the way of the pedals/steering colum.

Took off my trifold tonneau cover and put on a Smart Cap. Decided I needed more lockable space. Pretty pleased with the quality and the fit though I am going to have to lose my swing box as it interferes with the rear bracket.

I finally got around to doing some projects on the Ranger.

Project #1: Finally installed the missing Bed Tie Down Hooks that I bought from @LevittownFordParts.com... [checks notes] last May.

Easy peasy. Should have tackled this months ago.

Project #2: Swapped out my Ford branded trifold tonneau cover for a RetraxPRO XR retractable tonneau cover that I just received from @Stage3Motorsports. (At least I didn't wait 9 months to install this.)

Probably going to sell the trifold tonneau cover soon, but waiting a week or two to ensure that I am happy with the Retrax.

Next up assuming that I am happy with the Retrax: Yakima racks. Skyline Towers with either Jetstream bars or HD Bars at bed level and OutPost HD up higher.

Took advantage of a nice 75 degree day here and did a quick detail on the inside. Hit the dash and all the leather with some 303 Aerospace Protectant and all the windows with some Stoner Invisible Glass cleaner. I didn't feel like breaking out the vacuum and the local car wash has free ones so I'll do it there.

Had the afternoon off and with 50° temps decided to wash the salt and grime off. Wiped down the interior.....vacuumed......she looks presentable again just in time for the next round of snow and ice on Wednesday. Oh well........2 days of looking at a clean Ranger!

this morning as i was getting up for work a strange sound from my phone blasted out. it was an alert id never seen before. the preview showed it was from the ford app. i assumed it was some advertising bs like, "bring your truck for an oil change". so i went on getting ready. few minutes later another alert. so i unlock the phone and open the app.

For about 30 seconds id forgotten the 5g was at the dealer. I started running to the garage half dressed and ready to stomp someone into a mud hole... then remembered (empty garage) and calmed down lol. I assume the tech set off the alarm while checking out the truck. :whew:not sure why the times are so screwy app say 3 pm.

12000 miles on mine and just could not take the crappy rear shocks any longer. Installed the Bilstein 4600’s today (messily 2W, extended cab). Did not get a chance to take it for a test yet. I can compress the factory shocks off the truck easily with one hand though and had to grunt hard with two hands to compress the new ones.
Also decided to do the ”cold/warm” transmission fluid check. NO SHOW ON THE DIPSTICK. checked several times I was completely seating it. Start, reverse 10 seconds, neutral, drive 10 seconds, neutral, reverse, park, leave motor running. Still about burned myself. No show on the stick. Truck off for 5 minutes and check that (should completely cover the stick) it was only up to the 3 even with the truck off. Off to the dealership I go in the morning to pick up some fluid and figure out a way to get it in there I guess.

found out just now by email / ford pass ap, (zero communication from dealer since drop off last week) that my truck is has zero issues. they set off the alarm, ? and did a 180 in the dealer lot. then parked it and took lunch. I know the exact mileage from when i dropped it off. according to ford pass the truck has not even clicked off another mile. im not a tech, mechanic, or type of engineer. however, if i was wanting to see if a transmission had problems i would at least drive the vehicle around for several miles. I have beaten the horse past death and afterlife about how much dealer service has hosed me so i will not start up except one thought lol. if my 5g was not under warranty - instead i was a cash paying customer -i would bet Abigail would but up on the lift getting the transmission removed for rebuild, a 6000.00 dollar repair bill like Sid got would be waiting for me... i admit to having pessimistic tendencies, but had hoped so much this would not be a run around. i wanted to post how the dealer found the problem and its taken care of. a shinning endorsement would have been in order. maybe they simply could not find or replicate the problem and im jumpin on the "karen wagon" too soon. either way im now stuck paying payments on a truck i love but no longer trust to get me home from the places i wanna go. my 4g is the daily beater. the 5g i got to go explore, find trails and enjoy the little time i get off. 99% of the time im alone and yall have seen my pictures - tow trucks are not gonna come out to places like that get me when the transmission decides to give up and i cant get the truck back to pavement or a road with a name. i get a week off in march. its the first vacation ive taken since 2006. was planning to go the ouchita mtns and camp / explore the trails and forest roads. im complaining too much yes lol its a truck not a kidney. but im sad. ive really enjoyed the 5g. now i dont trust it. so for those that are still reading my complaint lol - what should i do now? keep it drive with anxiety waiting on the trans to roach, get rid of it and move on, or go to bat with ford or ford dealer?

Exactly how I feel. Trans issues, crappy suspension (dealer replaced both front struts at 7k due to leaking) and I replaced the rears. Brake pedal travel and inability to modulate smoothly, 15% less fuel mileage than what is stated (5% less if I run 91 octane) All you can do is get rid of it or fix it yourself with your own money. Swapping the trans pan, greasing the split shaft splines or going to a solid shaft, replacing suspension, running high octane with a tune, Living with the crazy brakes, and knowing that you will likely be replacing the battery every 2-3 years…..It’s ridiculous.
