Does anyone have a suggestion in contacting Ford regarding this Transmission problem and the fact it went out after only 34K miles?

Ranger from 2017, out of extended warranty as well probably if it was purchased.
It’s not only miles what count but also years. Unfortunately I don’t believe Ford takes this case as it’s not meeting warranty conditions.
You can check if there have not been any call backs with your tranny and you missed it. We don’t know that since ours have 10R80 but yours probably 6R80 6-speed.
Any info what was broken inside?

Not yet, still waiting for the refurbished one to be put in. The garage says only the factory that the old one is going back to is allowed to open it up and find the problem; the garage said its Ford policy and the garage cannot open it. I will have to see if I can enquire to them and see if they will tell me.

Ranger from 2017, out of extended warranty
forgot to mention that here in France the Ford warranty currently is only 2 years, they say nothing about powertrain or extended warranty. When I bought the truck in Jan 2018, the warranty was 3 years or 100,000Km (62,000 miles) and nothing about the powertrain. I will make some calls tomorrow and try to find out the complete details on the warranty from 2018

Also, I have been dissecting my Vin number 6FPPXXMJ2PHR81998 and from what I can tell my 2017 Ranger Wildtrak was built in Australia. Would anyone be able to verify this for me? If that is the case, I wonder if my truck was possibly part of a Ford recall that was issued to Australian residents for their 2017 Rangers in June 2020, where Transmission fluid pump gears could fail. Here is the article https://7news.com.au/lifestyle/recalls/ford-ranger-and-ford-everest-recalled-over-fears-transmission-fluid-pump-gears-could-fail-c-1078571 That would make since why I never received a recall letter from Ford France when this was a recall in Australia, Tell me what you think. Thanks again for helping me out. Pete

As I understand you bought “new” tranny but what is the deal with dealer keeping the broken one and sending back to factory? It’s a piece of your truck and you own it. Did you get a new one with discount if quit yours or you get it back later?
If they take your truck in and say the only cure is to replace the part then they must provide you a reason and that’s it.
About recall I think you can write directly to your local Ford, they have most accurate info. But in written form I suggest.

It won't be new, but refurbished.
The shop will send the trans they removed back to the shop they purchased the other one from, or if they rebuilt it themselves, they will rebuild it and use for the next customer.

This is alrrady calculated into the price you paid. If it wasn't, you would be paying at LEAST a couple hundred more.

This is essentially a core swap

Well, all done....Now I am in the process of writing an open letter to Ford, Ford.fr and Ford.EU
Maybe, just maybe I'll get a response and who knows some compensation, but I'm not holding my breath.

Does anyone know if the PCM (powertrain control module) and the ECU (engine control module) are the same unit or are the separate units, on 2017 Ranger?
I understand what their functions are.
