Ok not all Ranger 4 x 4's come stock with skid plates. My Lariat was brought in from another dealer as my local dealer did not have any Iconic Silver Lariats SCAB's on the lot. Mine did not have the skid plates so I bought the whole skid plate package (Levittown Ford) and put them on my self while removing the front rubber air dam. I added in the TM switch for like $80? and went in Forscan and activated it. I also activated the off road screen. The first things I did was Bilstein Shocks and Borla Exhaust. l sure do love my Ranger. Everyone Mods Different!!!!!!!!!

Ah I think I’m mixed up. It has the EPAS, but transfer plate and gas are not included. Part 5C076 is on all 4x4.
I don’t think it has this one - which also isn’t the EPAS

I realize plastic offers some abrasion resistance, but I’d hate to hang up the car on the plastic skid plate of the gas tank.
Your fuel tank sits above and between the frame rails. Chances of hitting it are slim.

Do you mean you put the silver skid plate on? Was the plate just behind also missing?

there is a separate, black skid plate that is standard on 4x4s, so that sounds like either a factory error or, more likely, a dishonest dealer.

I’m going to have to look under the truck today hah. I do know for a fact I have that 5C076 and it very much caught a few rocks in bald eagle state forest.
I see some folks saying the gas skid is on non FX4, so will take a peek and report back.

There is like 3 skid plates. The big main one, a L shaped one and one other one. Levitttown Ford parts has on there website a breakdown of all of those.

There are two versions of the front skid plate. Are you saying you replaced with the silver fx4 bash plate? Or that the black non fx4 skid plate was stolen off your vehicle?

When my nephew was helping me wash my truck, first thing he did was try to peel a corner. Almost had to karate chop the kid ?
Those stickers give us 5hp more & for those that take them off, well, we
know what happened to Sid. He swapped & look what happened.

Terrain modes, factory locking diff, high and low range electronic transfer case, factory underbody protection.

You could swap just the suspension for a leveling kit and true all terrain 31's or 33's, and have a truck capable of doing many trails up to a 5/6 out of 10 difficulty level.

When I bought my FX4 in early '21 it was the best deal on the lot, less $$$ than the 2WDs. This was because it was a '20 dealer demo with 1100 miles on it. It still titled as new and the dealer threw in an extended bumper to bumper. Since then, I've had the pleasure of being in a few less than ideal driving conditions and was glad to have the package..... F X 4 = F U N

Not trying to be a dick, just curious why someone would pay more for this despite, it seems, a lot of FX4 owners on here immediately paying $500-2000 to swap out/upgrade the suspension.
I think the other thing you're noticing is that the FX4 is the best possible basis for a build. Gives you all the things you need for serious off-roading that are expensive/difficult/impossible to add yourself, without asking you to pay for stuff you'll just want to swap anyways.

FX4 gives you:
- locking rear diff (Meanwhile I'm paying $5k to have one added to my Land Cruiser next month)
- Terrain management (more effective in most situations you'd use a Ranger in than a front locker)
- Trail Control (hill descent control that also works uphill, amazing in really hairy shit)
- Decent enough skid plates

To that, just spend $7k on tires, OME BP-51, an ARB Summit Bumper, and a winch, and you have a round-the-world capable vehicle.

That's also sorta the USP of the Ranger. It's an honest-to-god heavy duty compact pickup built to support commercial activity for hundreds of thousands of miles in austere environments like the Australian outback and Philippine jungle. And as such, it's supported by the highest quality aftermarket parts from those parts of the world.

Tremor, in contrast, asks you to pay a significant premium for about $1,200 in really cheap suspension. Why pay more just to take off that crap and bolt on the real stuff?

The Tremor includes all the FX-4 goodies and only runs $2900 more than the FX-4 package.

For that you get wheels at $1000 from Ford, Tires at $1080 from Tire Rack, a leveling kit (basically) at $1400 from Fox, and progressive rate multi leaf springs at $300 from Ebay.

Despite the fact that the suspension doesn't meet your "tough like kangaroo" standards. And knowing that no matter what you do to it the Ranger will never be "the ultimate offroading vehicle" like your Outback. The Ranger Tremor, does indeed represent a good value.

Not that I'd expect a review for hire "journalist" to know anything about value. Did you even pay for this Ranger? Or was it free like the last one?
