Time to try this experiment. Intake manifold spacer. Testing the general rule that longer intake runners usually help with low speed cylinder filling. Stock intake has pretty short runners. Higher rpm gains are not expected. Looking for more low end for drivability and mileage. If this does what I believe it will the low speed should pick up and I'll need to give it less throttle before getting into boost. It wants to get into boost at the lightest throttle and that helps kill mileage. Have to say that the way the port dividers are machined this should help with the flow over the other designs (orange spacer shown for example) and non divider style with some venturi effect.

Looks nice..... I am interested to see how it works out. Are you making that billet spacer?

Quite the nightmare project. Found out the hard way there's a tab for the EGR tube at the back of the manifold. It was binding everything up from lining up. You also need to cut and extend the EGR tube since the manifold is now pushed further out. Had to buy a saber saw to get in there to cut the tube. Now to drive it and monitor the mileage and see if there's any gain with the intake manifold spacer. Yes, that's my blood there. So, it automatically gained 25 horsepower.

So? After a couple weeks, what’s the verdict on the intake manifold spacer? Not happy with the EGR tube cut and extend process. Makes me want to leave the poopa products in the box.

So far I've driven in way more traffic than normal and the mileage has been close to regular. I've had to use less throttle when leaving a light than normal. I need to retrain my right foot when taking off. It's accelerating better at low throttle non boost. Hopefully the next tank I can go through a normal drive cycle and see if the mileage went up. The egr tube was actual easy to cut through but it's tight. I can't say you'll get the same results with the Boomba. The Steeda has a better design with the port dividers.

Interesting. If it’s that noticeable on low throttle non boost.. I wonder what WOT feels like..

Boost pretty much renders it negligible. Most dynos don't show anything or maybe a few hp which could be margin of error. Steeda claims a single digit increase for the 2.0 it was originally made for.

Good to know. Looks like I’ll leave it in the box then. Seems a bit too much work for the benefits for me. I had some people willing to do it for free but if it involves more labor then just bolt n play, then they will charge me :/

Once I figured out to stupid egr tube, that's really an hour and a half job.

I can't see that heater hose holding up on the EGR pipe. It would get pretty hot from the exhaust flowing through it.

Makes sense. Maybe if I find a egr tube extension that is metal. I did find one but it’s 20 inch extension.. I’m not too keen on hot exhaust gasses flowing through a plastic tubing, feels like another point of failure after a while. But just assumptions

I also wonder if that tube being plastic will gather more carbon build up due to it being more porous? Hmm, just thoughts. Might not be a substantiated claim

The flow only goes once in a while when the valve opens. I've used heater hose for the air injection tube on fox Mustangs for decades without issue and that's constantly exhaust flow. No idea where you would find metal extension for an egr tube.

Good to know on the past experience with heater hose.

I have read some people are getting it welded with some metal piping but that seems like a bit of work too.
