Thanks all. And yeah, my brain made me type BREAKS. I fixed it for those that can't handle it.

I guess I was just super impressed. I also have the emergency braking turned off, but I still get the warnings, just no auto stop. It has gone off and stopped me for no reason a couple times, and Ford just said "we can recalibrate it". For the 4th time. Naaah, done with that.

Ahhh...I didn't know brakes can be turned off...is it off by default? Mine's never braked in these situations...where is the setting at?

It's on by default, but you can adjust sensitivity or turn it off in the info display:
I think I read here that you can turn it off on a trip-by-trip basis, but not permanently. I think it turns back on when you restart the truck.

But you can certainly set the sensitivity and it remembers that.

I'm not sure though on the always off bit.

Glad to hear all is well and that the system works as advertised! I'm going to revisit my owners manual on the settings for the system. I've had it flash the red light at me but it has never applied the brakes before I applied them. I've had GM vehicles with this system and they were always applying brakes earlier than I could get to the brake pedal and at distances further away from the vehicle in front of me. If the Ford system could be set to be more sensitive/proactive like the GM vehicles, I would be on board.

Well, I've actually tried this on my 2019 Lariat.
At 40mph on a 2 lane country road the vehicle in front of me slowed to turn into a driveway.
I did nothing, with my foot ready to hit the brake if the truck didn't do anything.
The truck waited about 3 seconds longer than I would have, then braked HARD.
So, ya, I guess it works, and that's good to know.
But, I wouldn't depend on it; it'll scare the s@*t out of ya.
Just my ONE TIME test.

I've thought about testing it with a cardboard cutout or something to simulate a vehicle silhouette that would not harm anything or anyone.

TFL Truck just did a drag race between the Ranger and the new Frontier. Naturally the Ranger smoked it in the 1/4, but in braking from 60mph, the Frontier stopped shorter by quite a bit. Hmmm.

My 2019 STX FX4 does not have a LED row, but the center LED screen in my dash flashes red and beeps when AEB activates...can be annoying because it often activates when I start passing some slow poke and I'm late putting my blinker on

The other night I was taking the lady out to a good dinner and a show. Bopping along at 65ish on a well known to me freeway when I looked up just as the collision alarms sounded and flashed and traffic in the fast lane was dead stopped. I'm not sure what distracted me, but it did. I think I was checking my mirrors and rear, but uncertain, it's a blind spot in my memory.

I raced motocross for a long time and boy am I happy it honed my skills in close quarters "combat" and I hit the brakes with everything I had while remaining frightfully calm, instantly did a right-hand mirror check, calculated my expected trajectory if I chose that route, and committed.

I missed the car in front of me by probably an inch or two as I heard the parking sensors do their panic tone. I had intended to cut it close to give myself, and potential other drivers, maximum time to move if needed.

All worked out and everything is good.

I was the idiot.

The real meat: My '21 Lariat Tremor performed phenomenally. It really saved our lives. It alerted me, and then when I jammed on the binders, it took my commands competently, smoothly, and without complaint. Then, because I was in traffic (the other 2 lanes were flowing at-speed) and didn't know how far behind me another car was, got up and when when I commanded him (his name is Moby Dick) to get back up to speed. He's not leaving my garage for a very long time.

Anyone worried about emergency handling, shouldn't worried.

Thought I'd share.

EDIT: So my brain typed "breaks" instead of brakes. Sorry, my bad!
Well I think I know what distracted you. Way back when my lady pulled her skirt up and next thing I know i rear ended a parked car. We didn’t have these safety features in ā€˜73. That said 8 months ago I was doing 55 when someone turned in front of without looking.. I was in mid reaction when all alarm hell broke loose… I probably missed rear ending the idiot by 6 inches thanks to the system otherwise it would have been a low speed impact.. I honked and she just stuck her hand out of the window like she’s trying to wave me off. WTF, I got next to and gave her a single finger wave back so she just locked up her brakes… F’ing Benz…

There is construction happening on my road and I think the orange barrels freak out the truck especially in the early morning dark drives to work. Twice the other morning I did NOT need any coffee after the scary red flashing "collision assist" warning and beeps freaked me out for no reason at all. There were no other cars near me or anything.

Haha!

As for where the setting to turn off the auto BRAKING, it's in left screen menu under pre-collision something and there is an option to turn it off.

I know it did what it was designed to do, but so many things DON'T, it's worth pointing out something did...specifically something like this.
