The first time I saw the 5G was in an online article which had it in Saber, I loved it from the moment I saw it. We were in Durango, CO in late June 2019 and I was getting gas and a lady parked next to me with this exact one. When we got home I traded in my '16 Tacoma for one and couldn't have been happier.
It was a similar situation for me. Some New Zealand friends (I'm a Kiwi) posted a pic on FB of a Ranger (ROW version) and remember saying "that's a nice looking truck" little did I know that I'd end up owning one. Actually three, I'm on my third :) .

I’m also in the market, I love my 2019 XLT but sheā€˜s off warranty and seems like only a matter of time before someone on either side of the border slaps a massive tariff on new vehicles. These things are expensive enough as it is.

The field is narrowed to the Ranger and Colorado/Canyon, none of the overseas options have enough towing capacity. The GM twins are pretty, but there seems to be quite a few low mileage used ones in our area, and when you check Carfax they all seem to have an assortment of electrical or driveline issues that clearly people have given up on. That makes me a bit nervous. The problem with the Ranger is finding one with the options I want, anything with the advanced tow package is hard to come by up here. I don’t want to deal with installing another TBC, life’s too short.

I haven't seen one up close yet or stopped to check one out at the dealer. I know looks aren't everything (where have I heard that before lol) but I just don't care for the front end at all and some of the body angles. But I'm always late adapting to new things (I so hate change!) so maybe it'll grow on me over time .

When my '19 was totaled they had already stopped production of the 5G and were still several months off from starting the 6G. The new Colorado was just launched and I was very close to buying one. I had already built up a new ZR2 but they were delayed in production and luckily I found my Tremor en route to a dealer in Spokane, WA with no buyer. Otherwise this would be in my garage now.

yeah it's the way ford chose to integrate the grill on the 6G, imo. otherwise i really dig it.

so ford basically hit a home run to win the world series with the front end design of the 6g ranger raptor, and then they just mailed in the XL-Lariat trims.

that's the issue for me. how is the ranger raptor so damn good looking and the XL, XLT, and Lariat trims all look so much lamer?

again, hopefully ford sees this and updates the 2026+ or something to de-lame the non-raptor trims.

as you said tho, that's all looks. the rest of the 6g seems quite excellent. as i said in my other thread, it's better than the 5g in every way, just maybe not enough better to make me want to take on a new loan. though someone above made a good point about tariff impacts.........

Lots of love from journalists on this truck. Ranger raptor usually gets the best truck. And its cheaper that the tacoma trd pro. Canyon at4x and colorado bison.
Just priced out Raptor vs Lariat with 2.3 engine and difference was about 7K the way I would want Lariat. Raptor sounds better at that point. 59.500K vs 52.500K

What color? ?

I like that Marsh Gray, the rendering looks good anyway lol. The way the packages are now though, are kinda wonky, or I'm just not remembering correctly lol. The look is growing on me, and I could over look the no SCAB option, but 300A you get power folding mirrors, but not heated? 301A gives you heated seats, but still no heated mirrors? Doesn't look like running boards are included in the FX4 package either.
No heated mirrors is a biggie. WTF Ford?

I really do not like the looks of the 6G. Not the front nor the sides. Just don’t like it. While it appears to be a nice truck, I just don’t think I could buy one.

I just built and priced a 6G out earlier this week. (Typical Ford website activity for me as I sit here getting my caffeine fix prior to starting the work day.) And by the time the $ dust settled, I’m thinking ā€œNo way. I’d just buy an F150.ā€ Which in my world means that I’d buy a Super Duty. Not going to spend F150 $ when I could buy a F350 for only a few dollars more. Yes it’s huge blah blah blah. But, that 7.3L Godzilla will be good for 400K miles. And you’d get a 48 gallon gas tank…. Huge plus for running around out west off grid.

Raptor looks awesome! But that’s not for me. I want a truck to do truck stuff. Raptor is a toy built for fun.

I tend to form an opinion quickly (on people too) and rarely deviate from it. I know what I like and it's rare something or someone will change my mind. I don't think the 6G is hideous but after 18 months it's not changing my mind either. lol

Now we need a Daves opinion on forum members thread.

And I like the 5g, it looks dated that why. Grill isnt big enough to eat a honda civic

@Friday yet? you should have heated mirrors on your Lariat, both of mine do. Check your window sticker because mine was built later than yours and it was never a deleted item.
How does Ranger win best truck, I have yet to see one, dealerships around my area not sure when they will be receiving any. Just ordered a '25 Ranger last week, see when that comes in!

Well now I may have to do more research.

A local dealer has all their 2024 Colorado ZR2s significantly discounted.

Here's a loaded one for $47,800

That's actually quite a bit of truck for that price.

2024 ZR2

And a white one for $47,300

Edit: On a side note, the dealer where I looked at a Raptor contacted me to let me know that I could now get it for $2k under MSRP.

At that it still ends up being almost $10K more than the ZR2.

Is the Raptor a better truck? Arguably yes.

Is it $10K better? Now that's a different argument that I'm not sure the Raptor would win.

I haven't seen one in my area either. But these have been out for 4-5 months now and the ratings companied get these way before the consumer does. Personally I never go exclusively by what they say but it is nice to read them and get their opinion.

If I was in the market for a new truck I would give these a serious look! I've said it before I really like the look oof this new Colorado and almost bought one when my '19 Ranger was totaled but they weren't available yet. Now I haven't kept up on them to see if/what issues they're having since thieve launched but man they do (especially the red one) look nice. IIRC TFL has done numerous reviews on them and he even bought one of the first ones (I don't think it's a ZR2) when they came out.
