Have 600 miles on my Ranger....One tank fill so far, but I'm barely squeezing out 17MPG. I'm driving normal to conservative and was expecting much better gas mileage. Some of you are getting well over 20-22 MPG so I'm scratching my head here.
Same with me on my new Ranger... Thru 2 tanks... Same mileage now .. perhaps too much 'Turboing'....

Are you at a high elevation? At sea level with 33" I average 18+ but driving at high elevation it's around 16mpg
I'm at a mile hi on Denver Metro with a new turbo foot... So getting 17 or so... I know I will get better mpg after breaking and on the hwy...

I filled up for the second time and basically my driving is fairly short trips into a small town, all driven in Sport mode. I'm not upset about the mileage for an engine that's not fully seated. I look forward to working on the transmission and engine tuning once I hit 1k miles (just to make sure there are now immediate issues). I hate the way it drives in Drive, so I've already got a map ready for the transmission to try out. We'll see how mileage does after that... Currently, it's not dong as good as my Jeep Grand Cherokee that weighs about 1k lbs more, but I'm not paying for Diesel with this truck, like I am with the Jeep.

I'm curious where you 4x4 owners got the idea you'd average 25 mpg or better? Just from word of mouth? My factory sticker said I'd average 21 mpg city/hwy combined and my optimistic dash computer says I do 21.5. hand calculations bring me closer to 20. Even 100% highway driving sticker promises only 24 mpg.

I'm happy so long as my machine is matching factory specs. I understand why people would be upset with 16 mpg or poorer when the sticker promised 19 in the city.

It's wishful thinking for most folks.

A person who drove virtually all highway miles might make it there.

I'm perfectly happy with my 19.5-20mpg average on e-rated 33"s.

Finally did a proper road trip. A bit late for leaf peeping but a beautiful day to drive through the White Mountain National Forest and pass by Mount Washington.

Kept my eye out for a certain forum member's Ranger while driving through Gilead, Bethel, West Paris, Norway, Oxford, and Poland Maine.

AND ... finally got great gas mileage.

Started out on 93 octane after the latest SYNC update and with just over a thousand miles on the truck. We averaged about 49 miles per hour with some stretches hitting the upper 70s. The hilliness isn't too bad but we did cross the Appalachian Trail and go through a few notches.

At just over a half a tank, I topped off with 91 octane and am happy to finally see decent mileage.

I'm sure this isn't accurate but considering the system was showing me 16.4 mpg at times, I'm happy to see it read higher. Lots of cruise control (not adaptive in Soupie) and light on the gas pedal.

And I didn't forget Soupie's dump roots!

I had about a third of a bed's worth of leaf mulch. I should of opened up the tonneau and shared this lovely mulch! =p

Kate, Cheech, and I found the long ride time to be comfortable (although Cheech was getting stir crazy toward the end, especially when I missed our exit home and had to do another 20 minutes to get back!).

I'm sure the graphene must have helped with that MPG! =p

Drumroll ... 28.1 MPG!

There are people here who actually claim to get 25-26 MPG with their 4x4. Not calling them liars, but I don't believe it for one second.

Per the dash readout I now do, but it took me to about 12K miles to begin to average that.
That said, my dash is about 1 mpg optimistic.
Stock XLT 4X4 on 91 octane...in Phoenix.

So you are telling us that your average fuel mileage is 25 MPG? If that is what you are saying, then see my previous post for my response.

How much proof would you like? Just a sample of my leveled 4x4 getting 25-26 mpg. Obviously this isn't my around town average but consistent for highway miles. These are from my Fuelly app which doesn't lie. Also notice they were full fill up so no hypermiling was done.

It's a pretty part of the country and I wouldn't mind finding a place with a few acres up there. =)

He’s in Northern Mass and they call them Transfer Stations FANCY ??
Pfft, no northern Mass for me, but nice swipe at me! =p

Did live there for a year and their frigging income tax form is more complicated and longer than the Feds!

Kate does work there, so we always have to file Massh0le state income tax which requires my income to be listed (even though I live and work in New Hampshire). There's something shady about that part.

In my adult life I've only lived that one year in a state with state income tax - Texas, Florida, and New Hampshire otherwise. I just want to live out in the woods in my burried shipping container ... =D

Yes. Below are two pics I took just this morning on my way to work. You can believe or not what you like, but keep in mind my caveats...stock truck, 91 octane, flatland PHX driving. I've no particular joy in constantly spooling up the turbos, so you can say I drive like an old man if you like.
