They already admitted that pressures were spot on ((39 psi). And that they were wearing perfectly. No visible damage to them either. At least they acknowledged the vibration. My gut says they check fine for balance but I hope I’m wrong.
Follow up on findings. Got my truck back today. They did a vibration analysis with their VCMM diagnostic tool. Analysis confirmed when and what I was feeling and pinpointed to the tires. They balanced the tires and found two that were 1.0 oz out and one that was .7 out. The fourth was spot on. After picking it up it did feel better but not gone. I had rotated the tires at 6400 miles and vibration had been getting worse since ( now 7200). I did the front to back and crossed the fronts to the rear ( per owners manual instructions). When I got home I swapped the left and right rears to get them back in the same rotation direction as they were. Suspecting that had something to do with it. It did make a difference. Still have a slight vibration in the same range though but much better than before. I stopped at my local Discount Tire where we’ve done business the last 20 years. Talked with them about my situation and also about RoadForce balancing ( dealer used conventional balancer). So I’m going to bring it in Monday to see if they can either fine tune it or spot something with a tire/tires. Stay tuned

Thank you! Gonna go check mine now.

Just drove mine after a second confirmed road force balance for about 400 miles... finally got to experience the pleasure in the passenger seat. I can't believe my wife hasn't commented on how it feels...(not even going there!)...I couldn't even sleep in the passenger seat because my body was being shaken at 40-50 and 70+... I am so tired of this truck right now after almost two years with this problem that I'm considering anything at this point.

Mine was two serial numbers below the range. Makes me suspect of course.

Where did you find the serial number? Can't seem to find it...Although it might be because the damn trans is now COVERED IN OIL FROM A LEAKING TRANS@@!!! This is tiring... now gotta take it in for that.

It does make me wonder why the seal is blown out... maybe the vibrating shaft is causing early demise???

Ok , trip to Discount Tire may have paid off. They found the left front to be quite a ways off. The other three were good. Something about it being “64” and they got it down to “16” like the other 3. Just a short drive home from there and it seems much better. Time will tell though. Waiting to hear back from dealer on what “order” of tire vibration they detected when doing their analysis last week. Also today I stumbled upon a Ford service manual reference to using the Hunter Road Force balancer for solution to tire vibration.

My truck brand new has the vibration. I’m a Mercedes tech so I used our road force balancer right after buying the truck a few weeks ago. All were good. Replaced the tires. Mounted and balanced myself. All perfect. Vibration still there. It’s definitely driveline. Just waiting to get it in.

Sounds like they properly did a road force balance. Appreciate you sharing! Everyone getting a road force balance should be getting this load information from the tire shop. If they aren't providing those load values, then they are likely just using a road force balancer to do a regular balance.

What do you mean order of vibration? Are you referring to tires?
Relative to driveline speed...what is your order number or relative to tire speed. 2nd order tire is ovality of the tire for example. 2nd order relative to engine rpm is firing frequency of a 4 cylinder engine. It helps with diagnosis.

Being a tech, I thought you had NVH training...

best,
Phil

I thought the same thing. Wouldn’t a Mercedes shop have an analyzer such as this?

Yes i do have nvh training. And we do have a nvh tester. All are different abs the scopes can be set up different. You were on the subject of road force balancing not an nvh tester so I didn’t know if you were referring to the tire balance. I have not done the nvh test since I have not had the time. Also whatever I find won’t really help since ford will just have to do their diagnostic test steps according to their warranty guidelines. All I did was do a quick check to make sure it wasn’t a tire vibration. I bought a new truck to avoid having to diagnose and fix myself. Ford will have it this week.

But the NVH analysis pointed to my tire issue. That’s why the NVH was brought up. But you are correct that it’s up to Ford to diagnose the issue not you.
