Hello everyone!
I bought my ranger XLT used with the 18” performance wheels. No lift, with the crash bars still. I really like the look of the 17s so I picked up a set of wheels from someone on Facebook that are 265/70R17. Unfortunately when I did a test fit, the wheels impact the crash bars at just a quarter turn. I don’t know if it’s the wheels the tires are on that’s causing this, because the sticky thread said this tire size should fit. They’re 17x10 with a -24 offset. Should I try getting another set of wheels for these tires, go deeper in the hole and get my lift now? Try to sell these and get another set? Any feedback would be useful. Thanks in advance.

-24mm offset? Because it’s so extreme, my first impression is you’re trolling us. If you are not, fine, I can offer some advice.

If you are, fine, I’ll feed the trolls.

That extreme offset is the issue. Those tires (265/70R17) on stock Ranger wheels (+55mm offset) work just fine and you can go down to about +25mm offset with those tires and still be in good shape if you have a 2” level.

-24mm offset is a huge mistake for many reasons and fitment is only one of them.

Maybe post that picture you have.

Lol I’m not trolling. That’s what he had. That’s why I threw out the idea that the offset was the issue. They’re these: https://www.motometal.com/moto-metal-mo962
He would have had to remove his crash bars, rear crash blocks, and likely trim a bunch of wheel liner to pull that off with only 2” of lift. After all that, he likely still had some rubbing at full lock.

That thing looks like a skateboard. You might ask him what he had to do to make them fit without rubbing.

Maybe he sold them to you because they didn’t fit and he couldn’t drive the the truck? Let’s see the pics.

I did ask and he claimed all he did was the 2” level, no cutting.

In my mind, wouldn’t the more negative offset help as it pushes the wheels away from whatever it could hit? Being so dumb as to be accused of trolling was definitely the attitude adjustment I needed though ?
Here‘s how lowering offset gets you into trouble….the greyed out section on the right represents the lower offset wheel - when turned, it pushes the tire into the crash bars.

That makes a lot of sense. I did not do well in geometry class and this is my penance… At least the tires are the size and type I wanted and have a good bit of life left (although I could be mistaken about that as well)

Those tires are fine - those wheels are giving you grief.
