I purchased a set of Clearview Compact Towing Mirrors for my 21 Ford Ranger XLT. Installation went very smoothly, but unfortunately the power glass adjustment no longer works. When I first hooked the battery back up, the passenger side adjusted, so I switched to the driver side but that didn’t work. So I switched back to the passenger side and that no longer worked. I then plugged my factory mirrors back in and they won’t work either. I’ve looked online, other threads here, calling Ford and I cant figure out why they won’t work. I’ve pulled quite a few fuses, and used a test light to check the others. I thought it was fuse 36 in the passenger fuse compartment(mirror adjustment control). Anybody have any ideas?

@ArizonaRangers installed these - maybe he had a similar issue but resolved it.

Eric - you out there?

Did you check your fuses? There is a chance there is an inline fusible link as well. Those are a real pain in the ass to find.

id try taking off the batt cables for an extended period like over night. maybe the reset will wake them up. could be bad wires inside the new mirror parts.

Thanks I’ll try taking the battery cables off for a while. I took them off for about an hour this morning and they didn’t start working. Not sure about a wiring issue as the stock mirrors will not work either

I’ve checked all of the fuses in the 3 fuse boxes with a test light while the key was in accessory position. I was really hoping it was just a fuse but couldn’t find anything. Do you think there is a fusible link behind the mirror control switch? Thanks

I have no idea. Could be in the wiring harness as well. Did you check for power at the plug? Maybe the new mirrors messed with the plug and it is not making good contact anymore.

No fusible link is shown in the wiring diagram. Fuse 36 in the BCM (under the driver's side dash) feeds the side mirrors. I'd replace fuse 36 and give it a try.

Thanks for the info and suggestion. Just replaced fuse 36 and no dice.

I didn’t think to do that. Will be later today as I don’t have a test light at my house. Thank you

What wiring was disturbed to hook up the towing mirrors?

I just took off the tweeter speaker cover and unplugged the connector from the stock mirrors, and plugged it back into the new mirrors.

any trouble codes present ? any warning lights? the bcm on the five g is very picky it may reset with a specific process like the auto up down windows. for the auto window after an unplug you have to to a certain series of tasks with the switch etc. and then they work as normal. maybe some of the folks with tech knowledge can chime in with a process to wake the mirrors up.

I haven’t hooked it up to a code reader, but there were not any warning lights or messages in the dash. I’ve already got a service appointment scheduled next month so worst case I’ll have them take a look.

Contact ClearView directly, ask for David Newey. Had a problem with a set of ClearView's when I got them in April. Pair did not work right from the start.
Ended up contacting them and dealt with David. They sent me a new set and paid return slip for the bad set.
Turned out the first set was wired wrong at the factory....stuff happens.
Second set has worked perfectly.
