I was driving down the Interstate this morning and a huge bird (hawk, falcon, ???) flew up and hit my front passenger fender just behind the headlight. First dent, and it's a nice one. Rattled off a few naughty words as it happened. My deductible for Comprehensive is $500.

WOW! That is some damage from a bird, doesn't bode well for even touching a rock off road!
I’d like to hear about Any vehicle who’s sheet metal fender can stand up to rock contact.

So much for that High Strength Military Grade Aluminum that Ford touted a few years back when the F150 went full body as is our Rangers now.
Hopefully you can get it worked out for not to much.

get a quote for paintless dent removal first, doesn't look like the paint broke any
If that's an aluminum fender PDR likely won't work. PDR is difficult on aluminum. It doesn't have the "memory" of steel and it stretches a lot.

It may or may not be aluminum. Not sure when the switch was made. In his case, I'd hope it was steel.

My bodyshop was able to pound out the crease shown here in my aluminum fender. But panel removal and paint was needed.

It’s rare but big birds can do significant damage. I lost a light of my BMW to some kind of sea bird. Naughty words, yes.

Pretty sure my fender is aluminum - I tested it with a magnet. It's a 2021 model. No cracks in the paint, but I will have to talk to a body shop for sure. The bird I hit was definitely the size of a large duck or falcon.

Dad was driving through Texas near Lubbock one time. He saw this turkey laying with some creosote power poles that were on the side of the road. Bird gets up and starts hauling ass on a trajectory to intercept and WHAMO dents the hood and takes out the grill and passenger head lamp.

Our rangers are not full aluminum. At introduction they had aluminum tailgate fenders and hood. At this time only aluminum tailgate and hood.

A person can mock aluminum body panels all they want but since they are slightly thicker than the UHSS (ultra high strength steel) panels, they actually have more resistance against hail damage/door dings type of dents. Yes the “military grade“ was just Ford marketing, you know.. trying to sell trucks..
