Just a quick FYI post. For those of you that like a black rear section on your exhaust and don't plan on aftermarket may I suggest an alternative to regular high heat black. No doubt some of you will be aware of my recommendation, so this is for the some what may not. The majority of hi heat black "rattle can" paints e.g. Barbecue paint, are an absolute FLAT black and therefor look like rattle can finishes, IMO. I have used Krylon's hi temp which actually comes in a semi gloss and very much resembles the luster of powder coating. So if you have a need/want to paint something hi temp black visit your local Lowes and try out some Krylon....This has been a paid political announcement!

I don't mind taking pics it's just that I don't think pictures convey the luster properly. At least with my picture taking ability!

Plastidip would probably work as well, I've seen it used on tips before and it's worked good.

Painting is a good temporary option, but a tip looks so much better IMO. Of all the mods you see folks do on this site, a tip is one of the cheapest and one of the best bangs for the buck.

I went with flat black, as it's what I had in stock
Painted muffler too, has held up for 28k miles. Looks so much better than the grey. That just stood out like a sore thumb with all the magnetic going on.

I've been considering just cutting mine off to make my own axle dump.

Easiest and cheapest way to remove the ugly I think.

Yes with the tip. Sorry I didn't make myself clear. I have a black tip and black piping including both mufflers.

I just repainted my pellet stove. I used the high temp paint for exterior surfaces and went with the 2000 degree paint for surfaces closer to the fire. Last time I painted the thing was about 10 years ago so what I did does work for pellet stoves anyways

FYI, this post was intended to provide information on the finish (sheen) of the various "hi temp" black paints, not exhaust specific. Whatever component you want to paint that requires hi temp the Krylon finish is closer to powder coating look IMO.
