Question - Does anyone else here have exhaust welding defects visible on their Ranger?
Of course now that you said asked I had to actually go look. No really cosmetic issue like your picture but as you can see it does get that meta tarnish after a while. You probably won’t even notice later. I have 30k km in the truck.
But to me it wasn’t really a visible area. But I also get it - once you know it’s there it’s gonna bug you. I noticed my front bumper slightly unequal after someone else mentioned they had this on their ranger on the forum and I am still trying to ignore it?

Do what Jason B suggests then you can even spray the area with Rustoleums galvanized spray to cover any rust spots.
Don’t waste your time at the dealer you’ll just be spinning your wheels.

Not gonna crawl under it get pics but I have a few splatter areas along the muffler among other numerous unrelated Q/A issues.

Looks unsightly but not enough to warrant the hassle of phone calls and dealer drop offs.

Agreed - it might not be worth the time or frustration. That's the worst spatter I saw - but all the exhaust welds look ugly on this brand new truck like I could do a much better job myself. To me it was like an 8th grade shop class put on the muffler. Not impressed.
once you recognize the difference between mass production and pride, you'll understand.

These actually look better than his  but mass produced, well yeah. The first one belongs in an art gallery!

If you are truly concerned go ahead and try but be aware that you could consider getting an aftermarket exhaust as well for your liking

Does that increase performance much or does it mostly just 'sound' better? I know a boss pipe on my murry puch moped might be the absolute best mod but that's 49hp. How does this translate on a 2022 Ranger?

Mainly sound but also some(key word) extra power. The factory muffler is restrictive like usual.

There is way more restriction upstream than the muffler.

You could cut your entire cat back clean off, removing all your "so-called" restriction and you'd get absolutely ZERO performance games without a custom tune. Note I said custom tune, not the canned tunes ya'll are getting from the big named Ranger tuners.

Remove the entire cat back AND get the truck tuned and you might see a 2-5 HP gain.

Without an aftermarket downpipe AND a custom tune replacing your CBE on a Ranger is purely a matter of noise.

Despite what some people's calibrated butt dyno says.

Not too sure what you are talking about. The onlu real restriction in the exhaust is the muffler. It has two restrictions. 1st is the little reducer in the inlet side. The second is the stupid butterfly valve in the exist pipe. Those are made to keep the truck fairly quiet and in turn do reduce performance a little. Even a Turbo Style Muffler from the Aftermarket would make a small improvement on this as the exhaust will flow better. As for the downpipe that has the cat built I. You technically cant change ig due to EPA regulations(not that it wont stop people). And yes exhaust manufacturers have proven small power gains out of a CatBack Exhaust.
