Yes - it was my bad, wasn't thinking wrench would slip, that's how tight the plug was, did this with my old Hondas many times. I'm used to steel/iron so wasn't expecting the brittleness, like working on an aircraft engine I imagine.
Hi All, So the oil pan plug was on super tight from the dealers last oil change. I figured I would do this one and had to use a breaker bar to get it loose. Before I used that I tried a large crescent wrench and it slipped a little and a piece of the oil pan, looks like a fin or casting...
Sorry to hear that - mine could have been worse I guess. I was reading the new Bronco was having the skid plate bolts snap like that so I checked the hole and its clear.
Yes the other bolt got tightened and the last hole was I guessing slightly over the hole so they tried to tighten it last and it was askew. I tried a couple of times and fixed the threads on the bolt but its toast - gonna tap it with an M10x1.5 see if that works. Thanks!
Hi All - Just got back from a 2500 mile road trip and averaged 21.2 MPG. Honestly that's the best I've done. The tonneau cover helped. Cruise control helped as well as keeping speed around/under 75 MPH. Tires at 35/36 PSI. Anyone else have their hyper mileing tips?
Thanks!
Thanks for the reply and yes sad day, can't expect them to get an oil change right- that they charged me for 7 quarts of oil those pirates! And shop fee and misc fees - was the misc fee for cross threading :)
Thanks for that link - yup I'm never going back. Not worth the hassle and while I took a picture how do I prove it? Just fix it myself and lower my expectations for most things.
Hi All - So went to get 2nd oil change today at approx 2 years ownership and 12K miles. Got home to check underneath for oil to clean so it didn't drip on driveway etc. Anyways they stripped one of the skid plate bolt holes in the frame and just left the bolt and washer hanging 1 inch off...
