Great looking truck, great color choice! So the truck went from Michigan to Iowa to Michigan. Don't tell us you live within an hour of the plant as well....

Thanks, really happy with it. Ironically, yes I flew to Des Moine from Grand Rapids and drove it back 500 miles. To be honest it was a great drive and a good time getting to know my new toy.

I used to build engines, and I think the initial road miles are better for the long-term performance of the engine. Just an old gear-head/wrench-turner's opinion though.

Agree. I did pace it a bit and stopped several times to let it "rest".

Stop and go traffic right off isn't as good, correct?

I mean, I would think not as good. But again, not an expert. I just always felt like if I built an engine and babied it for the first 1,000 miles it would expect to be babied all it's life. But run it hard and get it loosened up and it will be better for gas mileage and overall performance. 'If it didn't stay together when it was new it wasn't going to stay together later' was the thought. But I have no data to drive any of that, just my own opinion.

Set the expectation were you want the lifetime performance to be. Kind of like opening the car door for a woman - if you do it on the first date, you will be doing for the life of the relationship. Set the expectations. (I am sure @Tracy Bowman will not give me any Dancing Turkeys for this post, although she may have a few others for me. Just keepin' it real, in my defense.)

On my Massey Ferguson tractor they wanted me to run at 3000 rpms for the first 50 hours.
And don't lug the engine.

Been a while since I have been on a tractor. Where does a MF redline at, btw?

Well, now my dealer said my truck is at the rail yard being held by quality control… Mine was supposed to be on a convoy… Who knows…. Nothing surprises me at this point!

It should say right on your window sticker the transport method. If it doesn’t say rail I would call BS on that dealer.

Are you saying to never open a car door for a lady? Shocking! No turkeys for you, Mister!

Not saying that. Just saying once you start, you’ve set the bar that high. I open the door for her every time we get in whichever vehicle to go anywhere.
