Well, went to pick up my new Ranger today. Only to have to fight with the dealer about price protection on the deal from February, producing the signed DORA to prove it, and producing the $1000 retail rebate offer. Then he told me that if I wasn't going to trade something , he would need to mark it up, $1,500.00. SO I let him look at my trade, and he low-balled it $7500 minimum under Kelly Blue Book. Said he called a few other Jeep dealers to see what they thought about my trade-in, and told me they were slow moving and sitting on the lot still. So I called the Jeep dealers and they said they had none on the lot and that the longest they ever sat on the lot was 2 weeks. I told him that this was not the same truck I ordered (Lariat 501a, and the LED headlights were deleted), so I just wanted a refund of my deposit, to which he said that deposits were non-refundable.

So my 'we will do what we need to do to keep the customer happy and make the deal right' was a wolf in Sheep's clothing.

So I left without it. Truing to find a regional sales rep to get involved, but Ford Corporate says I need to call a different dealer, they do not have a way to find that information.

Intersting, when I was in the parking lot, I got an email from Ford saying it was time to move my Lightning reservation along, and it could be converted to an order...
You walked away without insisting they honor the original negotiation?

I insisted the honor the original deal, which they said they were doing with pricing. But only if I traded and financed, otherwise they were going to mark up. Was no where I. The original paperwork do not include anything but the pricing on the vehicle, but not their ‘add-ons’.

Tell him he's not getting a trade and he's handing you the keys for what you signed for in February, not a cent more. Go get a cashier's check from a credit union for the exact amount on the DORA minus the deposit and hand it to him. END OF STORY - NO CONVERSAITION.

Infuriating.

I am sorry for the battle you may have, but I really can't see how they have a leg to stand on. You agreed on a price. Mine is around $36,000.
If I choose to finance all of that, or trade in, is none of their business.
And if I walk in with $36,000 is none of their freaking business.

That is TOTAL bullshit. If I were you I would find the time in my already busy life to punish that dealership as much as possible. That is dishonesty at its most extreme. You have a signed document from when you ordered and they cannot keep your deposit either. I would definitely be emailing anyone at corporate as far up the food chain as I possibly could.

Wow. What an awful experience. I picked mine up last night (ordered Feb 10, 2022; built Aug 13, 2022; delivered Sept 8) and the dealer honored everything that we had agreed to when I placed the order. They even honored February's finance rates. It was a long wait, but they did well for me last night. I'm sorry that your experience went so poorly. That dealer should be reported to Ford.

It has been an awful experience, but…

After some other calls to another Ford dealer, who said report them and what they were doing would impact their allocation, and getting ready to call the GM this morning, they called me first and actually offered me a better deal. $1500 lower than what I walked away from yesterday. Personally I think it came down to my salesman getting the deal or it being sold by a different salesperson, and the fact that I told them I was going to pull my Lighting reservation from them.

I also feel that it helped that’s very thing they had to say yesterday I had answers for them (allocation, supercab specs, not orders for 501a being processed on 2023, AND the fact that I did not sign a release that I was , much of which I learned here and on some other forums.

Planning to pick up later today. We will see how it goes…. And will update and post pics.

and then will move my Lightning reservation anyway.
