These days having an ODBII reader handy is as useful as a pair of jumper cables used to be.
You'd think that with all the tech on new vehicles, you should either be able to see the error code on the infotainment or vehicle app instead of having to connect a third party tool.

** UPDATE **

The check engine light came back with Code P02F1 fuel injector circuit. They reprogrammed the powertrain module per service order 19-2197. It seems all is good now. We will see how long it lasts.

That sounds suspiciously like the faulty injectors, but maybe you have one that it just marginal enough to pass with the new TSB update.

Good luck! Let us know how it goes.

Mine CEL came on at 237 miles. They found the P02F1 code and reprogrammed the PCM yesterday. After reading this thread I’m not inclined to think that the problem with the injector is fixed. I drove it about 50 miles since yesterday and no CEL yet. :fingerscrossed: Feels like a small victory. I will alway be expecting that dam light to come on now until Ford figures out a real fix to this problem.

I don’t think the automakers actually want you to be able to see the code that easily. If the check engine light comes on they want you to go to an authorized dealer for repair.

I agree. Reading the TSB, the service department is directed not do anything further until a follow up TSB is issued. I’m going to keep my eyes open for that follow up TSB and take my truck back in right away.

The guess is that all the TSB does is allow more leeway in the specs for the injectors. Since it appears there was a batch of bad injectors at some point, loosening up the tolerances the software will accept may "fix" it. Or, conversely, maybe the software was written with too tight tolerances. Only Ford knows for sure. Hopefully it will fix the issue for you. If you don't feel it stumbling like others have reported you may be OK.

Update. Dealer looked at my truck today and it was a P0131 code for oxygen sensor. They had to order the part. Going back in two days so they can replace oxygen sensor.

I took mine in for the keyless entry battery issue and check engine light which would come and go intermittently. They ordered new remote pad which goes on truck the 18th. They also reprogrammed supposedly to take care of check engine light issue. Half a tank of gas later and the light comes on and off...seemingly related to fuel tank status...goes off when refilled, then comes on at about 3/4 tank...then off again near empty. They will recheck on the 18th.
