TSB: 19-2197 - 2019 Ranger - Illuminated MIL With DTCs P02EE, P02EF, P02F0, P02F1, P02F2, etc...

UPDATE 06/07/19: This TSB is potentially not the solution to these issues as indicated by Ford on June 7th. Engineering is continuing to investigate.


SSM 48031 - 2019 Ranger - Illuminated MIL With DTCs P02EE, P02EF, P02F0, P02F1, P02F2 And/Or P02F3

Some 2019 Ranger vehicles may exhibit an illuminated malfunction indicator lamp(MIL) with diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs) P02EE, P02EF, P02F0, P02F1, P02F2 and/or P02F3 stored in the powertrain control module (PCM) after TSB 19-2145 has been performed. Do not attempt any further repairs at this time. Engineering is investigating. Monitor OASIS for updates.

TSB: 19-2145 - 2019 Ranger - Illuminated MIL With DTCs P02EE, P02EF, P02F0, P02F1, P02F2, P050A, P050B, P0299, P1026, P02F3 And/Or P051B - Built On Or Before 26-Apr-2019

Issue: Some 2019 Ranger vehicles built on or before 26-Apr-2019 may exhibit an illuminated malfunction indicator lamp (MIL) with diagnostic trouble code (DTC) P02EE, P02EF, P02F0, P02F1, P02F2, P050A, P050B, P0299, P1026, P02F3 and/or P051B stored in the powertrain control module (PCM). This may be due to various software parameters within the PCM. To correct the condition, follow the Service Procedure to reprogram the PCM.

Action: Follow the Service Procedure steps to correct the condition if the vehicle meets all of the following criteria:
  • 2019 Ranger
  • Built on or before 26-Apr-2019
  • Vehicle exhibits an illuminated MIL with DTC P02EE, P02EF, P02F0, P02F1, P02F2, P050A, P050B, P0299, P1026, P02F3 and/or P051B stored in the PCM
Warranty Status: Eligible Under Provisions Of New Vehicle Limited Warranty Coverage And Emissions Warranty Coverage Warranty/ESP coverage limits/policies/prior approvals are not altered by a TSB. Warranty/ESP coverage limits are determined by the identified causal part and verified using the OASIS part coverage tool.

Well, it does list the offending DTC's and for those of us with OBD II readers that's quite helpful.
It also indicates the adaptive transmission learning will be starting over....

The TSB indicates their proposed fix is to reflash the PCM with an updated calibration.

The update did not clear the CEL injector code. The tech test drove my Ranger and said the throttle hesitation is still very pronounced and he will be going forward with the fuel injector replacement. Unfortunately, the (help me out here gear heads) injector pump tube is on back order. I am beyond disappointed. The tech and the dealership have been good about keeping me in the loop. The supply system is horrible. I am looking forward to my next conversation with the Corporate representative next week.

Man you have just had the worse luck I think of anyone on this site, but don't lose faith my friend. I was a little upset about the whole ordeal until I went and picked up my Ranger tonight. I just love this little truck. Good luck!

I’m glad you got your truck back in good working order. That provides me with a much needed big faith shot. I’m convinced, I must have left a cheap tip for some waitress back in the day and karma is paying me back in spades.

I just got home from the dealer and number 1&2 injectors throw a code at 30 miles. They did TSB and reset light and said to try it? We will see if it works.

Just over 600 miles on my new Ranger and already 3 CELs. The first one auto cleared after x restarts and I just cleared the code with my scanner. When the second one occurred, I pulled a P0200 up and it also auto cleared itself. The third is also a P0200 and I am waiting to see if it auto clears. Planning to take it in as soon as I can. Unfortunately, currently dealing with death in family and I will need to wait until later next week.

Well Mine threw the P02F0 cylinder 3 Injector circuit range/performance issue @ 355 miles. cleared it and came back the next day also there are no physical symptoms of an issue; not sluggish, idle is smooth cold/hot, towed my enclosed 6x10 with my motorcycle and small genset inside no problems at all. The dealership re-flashed with new update, "i confirmed it with my reader" light stayed off for 2 days and is now on again with the same code. Now I get to take my truck in and leave it for diagnostics.. They are very good about fixing and doing warranty work without question. but i think there is a bad batch parts that got installed somewhere along the line. I will leave it for diag but if its more than 2 days for parts im taking my truck until they are ready to install whatever parts "if any" it needs.

At this time, there isn't an updated TSM. Only an SSM notation on Oasis that no additional repairs should be attempted if the codes return after applying the TSB. I will post an update when something new is released. To me it sounds like they will apply the TSB but if the issue returns, the customer is stuck for the time being.
