Took the truck in on June 8 for it's 6th check engine light (first time I've taken it to the dealer). They applied the TSB, but within 50 miles, the CE light has returned. If the light is still on when I leave work, I will stop by the dealer to have the code read. I am not in a position to leave my truck at the dealer until Ford finds a fix for this. My opinion, spread the parameters a bit, give the injectors a larger window to abide.

My dealer made an interesting statement to me. "This code has a history of 59 days in the ECU." I've owned this truck for just over 30 days. That means this code was present when the truck was built (built 04-12-19)

That doesn't inspire confidence..... Makes we want to check for any codes on my truck now! :)

I dropped off my Ranger at the dealership today to have the spray in Bedliner installed as part of the deal when I bought my truck 10 days ago. While waiting for them to complete the installation, I got an alert through the “FordPass” app on my phone warning that a Malfunction Indicator Lamp has activated. When I returned to the dealership, I immediately brought it to their attention before taking delivery of my truck. They had taken my truck to a shop about 10 miles away to have the spray in liner installed. Apparently the check engine light activated on the drive back to the dealership. Unfortunately the service department was closing when I got to the dealership tonight so they didn’t have time to check the fault code. They were at least cool about it an gave me a loaner vehicle so they could keep my truck over night and check the fault code in the morning.

Frustrating that the light came on when its so new. I only have 237 miles on it right now. I’m not sure if its related or not, but I noticed a slight buzzy noise coming from the engine when I drove to the dealership this morning. I don’t remember it being that “tinny” sounding before but I could be wrong.

Needless to say, I like the new FordPass app through the sync3 features on the new Ranger!!

Here is what the app was warning me about...

I have the same issue. Went to pickup truck two days ago. It had 140 miles. Test drive was good. Traded old truck, signed papers, new ranger wouldn't start. Check engine light was on. Same message on app as you but also had powertrain and 4wd malfunction and something else. Service dept took look at it for two hours and several test drives. Said they reprogrammed PCM but really couldn't find anything wrong. I drove 100 miles home (yeah I drove 100 miles to get good deal on right truck) without issue. Truck now has 245 miles on it and check engine light on again. Have appt. Monday with the dealer near me. I was expecting some issues with new model year but not check engine light at 250 miles.

Wondering what the codes were and if you might have some of those bad injectors. If you have a code reader it would be interesting to know what the codes are.

The bad injectors is the only real issue (other than the very early two trucks that had leaking heater cores) that has been reported here - at least the only significant issue in my mind. And it isn't a design flaw, but a supplier issue. I still haven't seen anything that concerns me as far as real issues with this truck. The design seems pretty solid - and it should since most of it is the same as what has been produced around the world for the last 8 years.

Good luck with the check engine light and let us know what the end result is.

I'm taking truck into dealer Monday. I'll post an update. My truck was built 1/19 according to door sticker. I've been trying to read the forums to see what other issues I may run into. As long as they fix it I'll be happy. I really like the truck.

I ain’t a mechanic or a service technician, but I recommend a quick read of the posts under Bad Injector, 355 Miles, and Check Engine Light. A search for those topics will take to some interesting discussions.

An early build.

I’m still waiting to hear back from the service manager. I can see through the app that my truck is in there service shop, they have cleared the check engine light and adjusted my tire pressure but based on the miles, they have not test drove it yet. I feel like I’m stalking them through the app :sunglasses: I will update the thread with details when I get my truck back. I’m also eager to see how the spray in bed liner looks.

I was checking that out last night. Whatever it is, I hope they fix it quickly and cleanly.

That sucks!! Did they tell you what the fault code was? I hate the whole “we can’t find anything wrong” crap when obviously there is something wrong. Good luck!

These days having an ODBII reader handy is as useful as a pair of jumper cables used to be.
I was actually looking into that. Any recommendations? I was looking at the ForScan tool so I can also make some adjustments to the as-build but it doesn’t seem to come with the software.

I don't have a Ranger yet, still doing some research and deciding..I have one that works on both my Mazda and Yamaha motorcycle though:

But, I'd search for what most here that have a truck use..
