Yikes. I would be worried about the tailgate with that weight back there. I don't know if that is a legitimate concern but was my first reaction.Picked up our new Polaris Sportsman 450. Oh yea!

I figured it was over the limit to drive over when loadingThe tire was right at the pivot of the tailgate and the bed. No prob at all!
If it was out at the edge, I would not have risked it.
Ah, I see what your saying. Yes, I was a bit concerned about that also... All went well though. It think that machine is 700lbs. So, you figure half that as each wheel set drives over the tailgate. I need to look up the weight limit of the tailgate.... Stand by!I figured it was over the limit to drive over when loading
Why worry it's a RANGER built FORD tough.Ah, I see what your saying. Yes, I was a bit concerned about that also... All went well though. It think that machine is 700lbs. I am seeing many numbers for the tailgate limit. All hover around 500lbs. So, at 350lbs per axle of the ATV, I was in good shape.
Admittedly, I should have looked that up before I did it. heheh

It drove fine, no sway. Didn't have any trouble getting the interstate. Not a bad mpg reduction! I bet that towed like it wasn't even there (not much windage issue).
Scott,Got it out of the garage this morning and went to a nearby clothing/shoe store to look at some Carhartt shirts and a new belt for work.

On the way to the store, I see an aluminum baseball bat laying next to the curb and I decided to get it on the way back home if it was still there. If you ever watched the movie "Casino," you know a good baseball bat can come in handy.
They didn't have the shirt I wanted in my size and I spazzed, forgetting to look at their belts. Typical me.
I parked way, way, way away, lol.

So...on the way back towards home, I see the bat is still there, so I hop out and get it, lol. This is the "after" picture. I cleaned it up with some sandpaper and filed down the nicks.
It kinda matches the Ranger's color scheme. lol.

Back on the road. I glance at the odometer and catch it clicking over 3,000 miles, lol.

Before heading home I stopped by the Walgreens for the lovely wife and got lunch at a Wendy's.
The Ranger was overdue for a good wash, so that got done, along with fixing a leaking water hose (missing the rubber washer) and blowing all of the cobwebs/dead bugs out of the garage. We live in the woods and seem to get a lot of them.
The tires were turning brown and the car wash soap didn't do much to clean it off. The Armor All seemed to help, I guess.

Now Scott gets to rest.
