The only thing I hate about SiriusXM is about 2-3 weeks before yours is about to expire they bomb you with snail mail. I was getting renewals almost every day, one for my Ranger and another for the Jeep I sold. They were nice when I told them to please take my Jeep off as I sold it and she said it could take a couple weeks for it to stop which they finally have.

Is that their Unlimited Package
No, just Music & Entertainment. $4.99 + taxes and fees bring the total to $6.50 per month. I prefer to pay it yearly and be done.

Well if they want to send me a 1yr deal that's fine LOL I'll even do a 6 month and just set a reminder but rather just deal with them once a year

When I called it was for the unlimited package. I just set a reminder on my phone for the week before it expires. This way it gives me time to call back if the first or second person won't give me a good deal.

I think the state the economy is in there's probably a lot of people cancelling theirs once it's close to expiring. So many are living paycheck to paycheck and between the higher gas prices and inflation Sat radio just isn't a necessity for them. They (Sirius) would rather give out a deal and be making something rather than nothing. They always seem to have deals/specials it's just getting the right agent to give it to you.

Yeah I'll just calling back until I get what I want or just let it expire until they get off their high horse and offer me what I want?

I really don't see how they charge as much as they do when you got all kinda streaming services...

Because some people just accept what they say and don't know how to make deals. I'm Polish so I'm always on the lookout for a bargain. lol Kind of like the ones who walk into the dealers showroom and pay sticker or worse, the high markups.

Cable used to be like that if one only carried their tv services. I have 1G internet, Voice and Standard (70 channel) TV. 2 digital cable boxes as I have CRT televisions. $254 per month.:frown:

Edit: 1G service with Spectrum requires one to use their modem and router. separate devices. Modem is free while the router is $5.00 per month - the first router I've experienced with a cooling fan. Worth it to me as my comprehensive 9 camera ADT home security system now works properly.

Yeah cable tv bills are now like a car payment. I cut the cord years ago and just do streaming now and have a rooftop antenna for local channels. Gave up the landline too and only pay for internet.

I had XM before the merger, and then for a little while afterwards. Sometime in the mid-aughts roundabout. I liked it for awhile....until all the stations I liked became incredibly repetitive. So repetitive. The playlists they all use are so short that if you listen enough, you learn the whole catalog. It kills me. Probably to try to get you to listen to other channels or something. Eh, it's too segmented for me, I guess.

I have a local station that's probably 90+% great. It's got a massive variety to listen to. Everything from Zappa to the Dead to bluegrass shows and blues shows and jazz and periods where the DJs just play whatever comes to them so it might be a collection of music from diverse genres of a specific topic, or different versions of the same song spanning decades or interviews with musicians. A couple of their shows I avoid altogether, but it's mostly solid stuff. Deep cuts, local bands, international bands, good chance they're going to play stuff I never knew of.

When I'm not listening to that, it's my own music collection.

I'm spoiled as we've had cable for too long. Have 4 phones in the house and the security system requires at least 1G service to work properly - an obvious plus for regular internet service. I 'm still trying to find someone to repair a 23yo HiFi VCR that failed recently....

Shit. I'm paying $45/mo for 500MB fiber internet service. Probably about as much per month for all the streaming services I choose to pay for. Less than $100/mo all in. Also have an antenna (mine's in the attic so I could just avoid the HOA). Cell phone for two lines of "unlimited" Verizon is just a little bit more than that, maybe $120/mo.

Retired, work is a four letter word.
I have XM at home with the $6.50/Month plan, paid annually, spend an extra $5 a month for XM streaming then use Apple Car play for the truck, along with Pandora. Bonus is with a Bluetooth speaker I can get it around the camp site or at the beach. My home internet is $25 a month from Verizon 5G wireless.

Renewed Sirius 'Music & Entertainment' Package today for the annual fee of $78.12 (same as last year's introductory rate). Renewed the service on both of my vehicles for $156.24. Took 2 phone calls to get a correct invoice/receipt. :sunglasses:

Hi Joe,

A Sirius backstory... Maybe already posted...I do not recall.... For some strange Marketing indicated that Ranger buyers would be interested in Sirius Radio more than any other Ford Model purchaser, so they came to me as Ranger Vehicle Engineering. What? Not Ranger buyers in my experience. So being customer driven, we had the Sirius people to a meeting. They had big plans but we had to modify our vehicle radio with a Dongle and coverage of the USA depended on the French Rocket in French Ghana. So I am going to reengineer the Ranger in hopes that the Rocket makes orbit.... I did not think Ranger buyers were in the category and declined the tearup to the Ranger electric system/Radio. Glad I did at that time, but Sirius is now in the sunset again... We have a receiver to our home sound system I installed with the initial build of our house, and it works well for us. We have music in the house all the waking hours...

So the compromise of my wife, Margie and me, is what music...We compromised on Smooth Jazz. My Pink Floyd vs her Elvis... Oh well, Jazz it is...

So back to the backstory, Ranger buyers were not interested in purchasing Sirius and my "No way" for Ranger was well placed....But Times have changed... JMHO Sirius has come to the end of its useful life in the next few years...

Best,
Phil

Phil

No fiber in my neighborhood - yet. I have a daughter who has basic 300GB Fiber optic service - I'm impressed as she gets constant 300GB speeds up or down. I'm lucky to actually get 1GB download and usually less than 50GB upload - the nature of the beast.

Edit: should be 300mb speeds......
