Been there and recovered. It is well worth the time under the knife. Hope you did you pre-hab exercises, they are easily as important as post operation exercise. You got this ?
It is funny, I started the pre-op exercises about a month ago and between that and the anti inflammatory meds, I started to feel so good I thought maybe I could just do PT and get better. I had to stop the anti inflammatory meds a week ago, holy smokes, it is killing me again. I told the doc today I know why they stop the anti inflammatory meds a week ahead of time, it has to cut the last minute cancellations to zero. I am really ready. :)

Wishing you the Best.

I need both shoulders - lower back - left hip - left knee repaired. Verified before I retired. Now that I'm on Medicare A-D, I'm no longer qualified for any surgery due to my advanced 'decline' (congestive heart failure, high bio mass, etc).

Living one day at a time and happy. I use a walker or cane when necessary - mostly manage without either for the moment.

Get lots of looks when I grab onto things to keep from toppling - feel like a stumble drunk bum on the Jackie Gleason Show!

I still miss my motorcycles.....2015 Triumph Trophy SE (my final bike).

I am sorry to hear you are not a candidate for the permanent fixes. I think it is giving up the things we love to do that is most vexing as we age.

The doc asked what I wanted to be able to do after the surgery and I told him, “I just want to get back to hiking our favorite trails with the dogs”. Funny how the simpler things mean so much as we get older.

Best of luck, I hope you are walking unaided for a good long time to come.

Thanks to everyone for the well wishes.

I had a lot of things to do this evening getting ready (felt like I was pre-flighting for an Apollo mission) and I have an early start tomorrow, so I will actually be signing off.

I will leave my iPhone at home to assure they don’t give it to me before I am fully out of the anesthetic, there might still be a few tracking lists I am not on yet…. :)

See you all on the other side. :)

Godspeed Bill!! I'll have your neighbor bring in all the packages we ordered from your credit cards. o_O?

Hopefully Paul @OrangeStreak didn't get ahold of it because he'll have your whole front yard full of boxes!?

? and speedy recovery!
I hope they didn't use steel parts! I thought they used titanium for joints. And if you don't pay extra for the rust protection, well....
Bill I think you were the one talking about AMP power steps - hope you got them installed!

They will be sawing my hip joint out first thing tomorrow and hopefully installing a new steel version in its place.

The joint they showed me was a chrome looking gadget and I did inquire to see if they had the sport blackout version, but the surgeon said no, just the chrome look, so it isn't going to match the truck, bummer...

I had a first cousin who never came home from his knee replacement surgery (my sister actually found him dead in his recovery room, suboptimal). So if blood clots after joint replacement run in the family and I don't make it, I just wanted to make sure anyone I might have slighted along the way here knows, it was me not you. :)

Cheers, see you all next week sometime.
I had both hips replaced in 2002..no problems to date.
Post Op Physical Therapy is key.

How long do they expect them to last before you would need a revision?

Just make sure when you’re signing all the forms you definitely get the one that says nothing I say during recovery is admissible in court! Don’t ask me how I know about that one…
My wife didn't understand why I didn't want her in there when I was walking up. The amount of shit that comes out of my mouth when I kinda have control of it doesn't come close to what might come out of it during recovery LMAO

You'll be fine.
Will look for messages post op recovery room when you say really wacky things coming off the anesthesia.
However if you don't make it, ill arm wrestle others for your truck.
Most are wimpy damper folk so ill win easily
Best wishes, Bill, ans speedy recovery! Maybe start a "Post-op on Anesthesia and Pain Killers Posting" thread?

Hi Bill,

You will be fine....The new anti clot drugs are much more effective and have less side affects. Pricey, but worth it...

Good luck and mend well!

Best,
Phil
