Everyone's take on the new (somewhat) Nissan Frontier?

I've seen several on the road and think that their styling is handsome and restrained, unlike the new Tundra, who's front design is hideous.

I sure hope they've updated the running gear and underpinnings, the previous version probably set records for the amount of years in design and production.

Don't get me wrong, I am a dyed in the wool Ford guy, but am curious to other members comments/observations.

What say you, Ladies and Gentlemen?

I don’t like it for the same reason I don’t care for the newest Silverado, the weird flaps around the headlights/front of the vehicle. It just seems like they didn’t know how to finish that part.

I actually test drove a Pro 4X last weekend. It wasn't bad. Seats are super comfortable. Ride was good on smooth and rough roads. Power was adequate. Styling isn't bad. I do not like the LED DRL's. Two straight lines. Looks just like the RAM. I don't like how some of the buttons are in awkward spots. The infotainment is very confusing to navigate. And some of the interior bits felt pretty cheap.

Aloha Rob, hope you got your new truck, if you did CONGRATS!
I actually like those strange appendages on the Chevy's, they add a unique focal point on what would be a cookie cutter design.
If Toyota applies the same front design of the Tundra to the new Taco I don't think Ford, GM, Stellantis etc. worry, it's atrocious.
Reminds me of a 4 year old local kid's facial expression as he/she sucks on their very first li hing mui...lol

Nissan was never known for the quality of their interior materials, Toyota is just slightly better...
Out of curiosity I visited Nissan's website and tried to build a 4x2 Frontier extended cab, the unavailability of leather seating surfaces is a deal breaker...

Aloha Jeff, it’s somewhere between maui and oahu right now. I should get it monday.

I should point out that if those trucks have a style you dig, that’s cool with me. I like choices, I just prefer what Ford is doing.

Always a good time watching someone try li hing mui (I’m not a fan of that either).

It's a great looking and solidly built truck with an anemic V6 coupled with the turning radius of an aircraft carrier. (47 feet. Now, go check the Ranger's turning radius.)
I just may test drive one soon, as I did with a '19 Taco three years ago.

The Toyota's driving experience wasn't pleasant, the rearview mirror blocked a substantial amount of landscape looking out of the windshield and the 4.0 V6 performed like a non-turbo 4 cylinder.

When I asked the salesperson why Toyota insists on using archaic rear drum brakes on the Taco, her response was that drum brakes are superior for off-road use.

My response to her was that if what she said was true Toyota would fit drum brakes all around on 4x4 models...

I not concerned with the new Frontier at all, or any other new truck for that matter. I've not even looked. I did my shopping before buying the Ranger, it was the best option for me at that time. I'm not one to keep second guessing the purchase and re-comparing it to every new thing that is released. I made my purchase and as long as it meets my needs, I plan to stand by it. I want to get it paid off and enjoy no payments for a while.

I like the styling of the Frontier. Unfortunately, Nissan is on the no fly list for us, so never got a look when was out shopping recently.

My wife had a 2005 Mercedes SLK350 that was the apple of her eye. Unfortunately, after a few years it developed an electrical/FI problem Mercedes couldn't fix. They ended up buying it back from us, so after my wife got over the grief, agreed maybe she would do better with a Japanese car. We went out and found the Infiniti EX35 that she liked and we bought it. What a freaking mistake. That car had more things go wrong with it in the first 30K miles than any modern car I have ever owned. Nissan earned the no-fly spot so soundly, it won't ever make it back onto our shopping list.

I test drove a Frontier about 3 weeks ago. Nice truck, well built. gorgeous interior, but the motor lacked the power I was looking for and it literally took four lanes to make a U turn. I laughed when the saleslady said they were asking for window sticker price.

When I was shopping around for a new Ranger at a particular dealer (we've just 3 in Honolulu) I was quoted an obscenely absurd markup on a '19 XLT that I almost told the salesperson to shove it.

Then I discovered Ford's X Plan on this forum, probably the best buying program for a new Ford ever.

If I find the '23 Ranger appealing, I'll certainly go that route again.

The dealer I test drove at was asking $5k over sticker.:crackup::LOL::crackup:
