I got new wheels and tires last week, i got a new set of ford motorcraft TPMS sensors for the new ones. shop put everything on, and gave me back my old wheels and tires, took them home in the bed of the truck.
On the way home 4 tires were being read by the truck, they said they weren't sure if the programming took because the old ones were still so close. I got home, unload old wheels and tires, put them on a shelf in the garage about 10ft away from the truck. Drive the truck the next day, about 20 mins on the road, i get a TPMS system error and the truck reports no tire pressure data for any of the wheels.
I call the place, they say stop by, they put the truck in programming mode, 3 tires produce a honk and 1 does nothing. I ordered a new TPMS sensor and the little programming tool since it was cheap. Couple days later i go for a drive, 4 tires are reported, fine all day. next day, drive for about 20 mins, and i get the error again, no sensors synced.
The new sensor and remote have not been delivered yet, but anyone have any idea what may be going on? The shop said it would not be picking up the old set of tires because they are too far away (10ft on the shelf) so i dunno.. i hope i dont have to swap out a sensor, and why is it loosing sync with the other 3, even though they produced a toot from the horn? sorry for the long post.
