Here's what helped me retain my sanity with TPMS issues on my Ranger and F-150.

First, this $13 TPMS tool:

Arozk TPMS19 TPMS Reset Tool Sensor Relearn Reset Tool for Ford Lincoln and Mazda Tire Pressure Monitor System Sensor Programming Training Activation Tool TPMS Trigger Tool Tire Sensors Reset Tool

https://a.co/d/4jbgnb3

Then follow this procedure (if you have the physical key start and not a push button start):
https://www.ranger5g.com/forum/thre...-trained-during-tire-rotation.5505/post-89079

(Procedure is different with my push-button start F-150.)

Even if the truck relearns the sensors in their new positions once a tire sensor is entered into memory, I still do this every time to ensure my 5-wheel rotation runs without issue. I'd do this even if I were running a 4-wheel rotation.

The above method (not the "delate tire" method, which is - to me - a PIA) helped me figure out twice that I was having a bad tire sensor problem rather than a problem with the pick-up module.

Hi everyone,
I have had the same tires and factory wheels for 2 yrs now with no problem. The TPMS sensor fault always comes up now.
The gauge on the dash and Ford Pass app is showing ( -- ) for the front left wheel
I have tried training the sensors by lowering the tire pressure until the horn beeps. Starting at the left front, the horn will sound for the left front but not the right front. The right front always fails
I bought the training reset tool and tried it. The left front beeps, but not the RIGHT front
I have rotated the tires 3 or 4 times and have driven it numerous miles in between to make sure it is not the sensor in the tire
In summary, the dash gauge and Ford Pass always shows -- for the Left front, but the Right front will not train. Anyone have any ideas what to do next?

If the LF is (dashed) then the system has a locked in fault, the system WILL NOT enter a training mode and complete until the fault is cleared.
The system must see a (completed) learn on each sensor before it continues - so if you are starting at the (LF) and moving to the (RF) the LF never completed the learn - so when you move to the (RF) the learn procedure was stopped.

Note: You do not have to always start at the (LF) you may try starting at any other position first.

Read and clear the codes that are locked and then do a self-test (reset) on the IPC & BCM, if it fails the test, it will give you a specific code for troubleshooting. But it will not let you do a relearn until the failure code is cleared. It may give you something like sensor not trained - if that is the case - do the learn. But also keep in mind that the manuals are wrong as myself and others have found the system will self-learn. But the (--) indicates a failure that is locked.

Thanks for all the replies gentelmen. I think we got it. My son had sideoladed some third party apps on the radio, I deleted them. My granddaughter had stuck a USB dongle in the rear port.(which shouldnt matter?) I took it out. Not really sure what made the difference. I even tapped the top of the cab at the antenna a couple times just for giggles.
This time, i tried training them with Forscan. RangerBill, you called it from the beginning. This time, it did train the left and right front, but not the right rear, so, yes that one needs the sensor replaced.

Forscan was the key, the Apps and USB dongle would have nothing to do with the TPMS, and the physical antenna has nothing to do with TPMS either, that antenna is internal to the RTM that is hidden under the headliner.
At least you have isolated the issue
