Sure if we were living in "normal" times I'd agree. But when used cars are higher now then when they were built it puts a strain on peoples choices today. Heck I just sold my Jeep for almost $5K more than I paid for it 3 months ago. Kind of hard to justify buying used today.Life isn't designed to be ideal. Sacrifices and or compromises go along with breathing.. unfortunately
If an individuals vehicle is so old and such junk that they need to replace it quickly... the US sells 40 million used cars a year. There IS an objectively suitable replacement for them, that same day.
Same thing If they drown their Bronco off the coast of maine... they can easily stop anywhere on their way back to jersey to buy something.
A brand new car is not a necessity in 99% of cases.
