Life isn't designed to be ideal. Sacrifices and or compromises go along with breathing.. unfortunately

If an individuals vehicle is so old and such junk that they need to replace it quickly... the US sells 40 million used cars a year. There IS an objectively suitable replacement for them, that same day.

Same thing If they drown their Bronco off the coast of maine... they can easily stop anywhere on their way back to jersey to buy something.

A brand new car is not a necessity in 99% of cases.
Sure if we were living in "normal" times I'd agree. But when used cars are higher now then when they were built it puts a strain on peoples choices today. Heck I just sold my Jeep for almost $5K more than I paid for it 3 months ago. Kind of hard to justify buying used today.

I wonder how much of this has to do with large volume dealers having more pull? This is how this whole mess started in the first place. These larger dealers weren't getting many Bronco reservations because their prices were either at msrp or over where Granger and others were selling below msrp and/or invoice. So they got together with Ford and had them change from a reservation timestamp to an allocation system which benefits the larger dealers.

I can see them doing the same with these regular orders. Like you said how did others here get theirs way before you? Then miraculously after you call the parts are there?
That would track; I bought mine at a very small dealership in a small town.

Our collective definition of 'normal' when applied in the manner you just did needs to be thrown out and rewritten. We're in the new normal.

As I said, compromises and sacrifices. It's not ideal, no, but such is life.

Gotta be able to roll with the punches, or else your better off knocked out.

Adding fuel to the fire, my sister just got a new Bronco. She was thinking of getting a used Jeep and went to look at a Bronco. Someone had just cancelled an order and she put her money down on the dropped order, thinking it may be a while for it to come in. 2 months later (last week) she got a call from her salesman, while out looking at a Jeep, that the Bronco was in. For a few thousand more, she got a new Bronco rather than a used Jeep out of warranty. Her salesman was out until this week but the manager wanted it off the lot because of all the customers asking about it so she got it last week.

Hope it wasn't one that was frozen and she has good luck with it.

I saw going out to lunch the other day 6 Broncos all the forest green color. 3- 4 door and 3- 2 door. They were going to the ford dealer for my company Landmark Ford. I am assuming they all were sold already? I really like that green however (must be the Oregon Duck in me). I am glad I bought my Ranger 1.5 years ago and missed all the BS that has been going on the last year. I do love my Ranger.

Amen to that. China owns the chip market. It is a shame that we have the know how and technology in America and we still utilize foreign enemies. That is a whole nother conversation
At least we are building several chip plants now here in the states. IIRC there's 2-3 very large ones going up here in AZ now and a couple on the east coast. A little to late (but better late than never) and I hope we've learned a valuable lesson from all this dependency on China and other foreign nations but somehow I doubt it.

That would mean the politicians have the country's best interest in mind, not theirs. Seems like China owns all of them.

They could've at least done something to protect them from the elements.

Bulk cost for Ford to shrink wrap them would be maybe $200 a vehicle. A small price to pay to give the perception that they give a fuck.

Also, has anybody figured out how they're handling the model years? Are people buying "new '21s" in 2022?

Doug, I was just talking to my friend back east about this earlier today. His (well it's his wife's) Bronco finally has a build date of 5/26 and he's afraid it's going to end up sitting for months after waiting for chips. He said he'd even pay to have it covered so it's not sitting there in the elements for months. I know most do sit like this on dealers lots but when it's a brand new customer order this shouldn't be happening.

As far as the model years I'm guessing if you have a '21 and get it in '22 you're just happy to get it. Sucks it's a year old now but at least it was price protected and there was no increase.

.

My wife bought a 2021 Escape in November of last year with a production date of 9/21 and it is titled a 2021. August used to be the start of new production after plant shut down. The way it looks is their going by calendar year now.

The more I read threads like this the more I love my 2019 lariat fx4 modded to my liking. I used to buy a car every three year, last three were Mustangs. Between the markups, no inventory and the huge stack of Bronco and Lightening orders I saw on my finance managers desk I am planning on a 10 year plan with my Ranger. I feel for those buying right now.
