Kinda late to the party, but I’m another fan of the AVS. I went with the matte black, without the raised part. I’m assuming this is the first gen, but there are still a few floating around out there.

For what it’s worth, with the 3M tape this thing isn’t going anywhere without putting up one hell of a fight.

That's the one I would want.

Another AVS stick on….over 1.5 years now with no issues.
Not a “bug deflector” but a “hood protector” plus I like the how it enhances the look of the front end (matte black)

I wonder if it could be painted to be a gloss black like the grill?

I am considering one but they really stand out on a white truck. Back 1993 you could then in clear and you could have them painted on the back side.

I have the AVS Bugflector II. Amazon link:
https://www.amazon.com/Auto-Ventshade-25954-Bugflector-Protector/dp/B07KMRCJGG/ref=sr_1_2?crid=V0NEO071TILA&keywords=Bugflector+ii+ranger&qid=1640573305&sprefix=bugflector+ii+ranger,aps,123&sr=8-2

Here’s a couple of great videos from one of the forum members. The second video is for adjusting the hood latch if necessary. Mine is fine without any adjustment.

This is the one I just ordered. I'm going to use it for our 3k mile trip in a couple weeks and then remove it. I like that it isn't stuck onto the hood by tape. It claims to be on sale for $58, but since I haven't been looking at it in the past, maybe that's just Amazon marketing. :)

Done! I will probably adjust the hood latch once I get tired of having to close the hood a little harder than usual.

I have the acrylic one from AVS. It uses the connector points already in the hood for the rubber seal - no tape.
I have the Weathertech unit. It attaches the same way.
