Hoping to get some insight before I make the purchase. I was unable to paste image of the product for reference. Leviton Ford website has genuine ford hood protector/air deflector for sale that has a raised lip towards the windshield. It's mounted solely with 3M tape. So my question is...what happens to any water that would flow down the hood towards the deflector and grill area? Seems like any water would seep and fill behind deflectors raised lip and not have anywhere to go or drain off. Is this an issue on these type of deflectors?

I thought about putting one on my truck to keep rocks from denting the leading edge of my hood. But I really don't like the idea of using 3M Double Stick On to secure these on my hood.

Having said that, I just finished a desert trip and yeah....a rock put a small dent on my hood. If I had the Rock shield this would not have happened.

I keep looking at it too. I would rather do the clear film, but it just recently shot way up in price.

The markdown price is about $90 minus shipping from something like $112. It is kinda high for a bug deflector. Guess they want us to think we're still getting a deal but man I really need one down here in south where bugs are like kamikazes

What brand do you have? So you secure the tape on outside bottom edge of hood?
mine came from Ford. There's tape, but the tape is only there to keep the metal clips that ACTUALLY hold the deflector on the hood from scratching up the paint. It's just paint protection film. The clips screw into the inside of the hood. There are a couple rubber bumpers at the outside edges that keep the ends from vibrating in the wind too much.

Looks like it's this one:

2019-2022 OEM Ford Ranger Hood Deflector/Bug Shield - Smoked | eBay

It's similar to the AVS one, but a little different.

That's actually the exact one I was referring from the Leviton site.

I have the acrylic one from AVS. It uses the connector points already in the hood for the rubber seal - no tape.

I have the AVS Aeroskin, with the 3M tape. Fits perfect and looks good. Not worried about it coming off, 3M is used for most all vehicle badging without issue.

Almost smooth, a very fine pebbled finish, looks good.
Also, if you want to add a LED light to the center flat spot and use flat wire tape you can, I didn't want it.
