I like this idea! Chip Buy Back  :rockon:
Has merit. I'm reminded of the autonomous car story from yesterday. Cop pulls you over - foot on brake - motor off - cop walks up to vehicle - take foot off brake - vehicle drives off - front page news...... :(

I suspect the minus $50 covers at least one item: The battery wouldn't need to be as big (capacity wise). The others might be the alternator and/or the starter, but to me that wouldn't be as cost effective as a smaller battery would be.

It’s related to chip shortages. Other missing features (as an example: heated seats) also net $50 off the price, even if it’s a $500 feature.
That’s what I heard too. Although my A.S.S. quit working several months ago when the weather got cold and still hasn’t started working yet. Not that I’m complaining.

It could and will get worse before it gets better. All joking aside I think we're going to see many more things deleted for the next few years just so they can get vehicles produced. Of course they say you can get them added in later from the dealer but I wouldn't hold my breath.
My July 2020 reservation Bronco Badlands with Lux pkg will probably be a Big bend with mid pkg by the time Ford builds it :(

Well, at least Ford is giving a little back. They just told Bronco order holders that the built-in nav system is no longer available. And, there was no "you'll get it latter", or "here's your 695 bucks off the LUX package price". That right there is the nail in the coffin for me. I know I can use my damn phone, but I'm hard headed and want what I want. I've gave up the hard top, the tow package, and the 2.7L already. My bronco is now a stripped down version I wouldn't buy off the lot. Damnit Ford.................

Still waiting for my Ranger. It's 'In Production' status as of 4/5/2022. But as I was looking over my window sticker, I noticed there is a line item on there for 'AUTO STOP-START REMOVAL' and there's a '-$50.00' fee for it. Have others seen this? I didn't know this was an option. I assume it's because I ordered the towing package?

I had been researching the best way to disable the auto-stop start on it when it arrives. Guess I won't have to get an add-on now. Thanks Ford.

NO, I'm not buying this.
There's something else going on here.

We all seemed to think FORD had this ASS to meet GOV fuel economy specs.
And some of us didn't like it, so we pontificated, ad nauseum, how to shut it off.
And NOW, FORD is simply charging us $50 to shut it off?
NO, I'm not buying this.

Yup saw this on mine, on the Ford tracker of all places when I checked the list of things at the bottom of the page.

The AGM battery and starter application are unique to auto start stop setups. I was pleased to find out my 2020 Chrysler 300 didn't have auto start stop. Auto Start Stop - another solution to a question no one asked apparently.....
