How does using the starter more not wear it out sooner. Please educate me.
I run a auto repair business. My job is to educate myself, not others. I really don't mean that in a mean way. I would suggest, you research the auto start system mechanics on the design and make your own assumptions from that. You will find the design of the mechanics, pretty neat. There's going to be some that hate it and some that love it. It's ok to have different opinions. Really and honestly, check out how it works. You might be in impressed. Still might hate it, won't be because, tear starter up. Good luck

So, it doesn't use the starter?

You are joking right? It definitely helps out a very real problem.

You are entitled to not like how it feels or various other concerns, but to deny that it doesn't help get better fuel mileage and the benefits that provide? Laughable.
'Better fuel mileage' is negligible. Lower polution numbers? Negligible. Similar to diverting food stocks to make moonshine as a motor fuel additive? Same S***, different day. Go play somewhere else.

It's small but not negligible. All small changes make a big difference both a vehicle level and as a whole for society.

Maybe it doesn't matter for you, but I want to take care of the world and hope to be here for the next 50 years and that it's a decent places for my kids and future generations. This is a small and easy way to contribute

To me, it's such a non-factor. It's 'drawbacks' are so negligible that I'll "put up with them" for their benefits even if small

I am showing a 2mpg gain over a full tank of fuel. On the starting when putting it in park I just shut it off in drive if I see the green A and then shift to park after that. That last bit does seem a bit weird, but Ill take the 2mpg in my large city driving - math says it is worth it.
I'm sure your driving habits changed without you realizing it which has more effect on gas mileage. And as for turning the car off in Drive that goes against what I have done for the past 55 years. It is very annoying to have the car stop when you have came to a stop for a half second. The engine hasn't even completely stopped before the starter engages. I'll get my 2 mpg by driving more sane.

My 2019 ranger auto stop magically stopped working even when it says it engaged, dealer couldn't figure out why but its been a blast not having it. Riding in my new ranger i get PTSD as it works properly now

Glad it is removed!! Amazing how FORD decided to totally remove an option that supposedly is supposed to help them get their carbon credits...I guess those carbon credits aren't so important now???:inspect:

Constant start/stop DOES WEAR CERTAIN PARTS FASTER!! Plenty of documentation out there. Saving a few cents on gas per tank does NOT equal the savings of wearing out major parts in the motor in my opinion. If you like the feature, more power to you.

All auto manufactures are pushing the envelope trying to squeeze MPG out of these motors while meeting EPA B.S.

Making plastic motor parts:facepalm:, only using metal linings, higher compression, turbos, more sensors, computer modules, etc. Too many variables that do not mix well or work very well to begin with.

I am by no means an expert mechanic/engineer, but I feel my personal experiences and time on this earth have taught me a few things. And the ASS feature is NOT an item I feel confident in using or having.

You can all kiss my ASS feature goodbye and good riddance!!

Edit: I don't like coke or pepsi....RC all the way :rockon:

I agree with you if it made a difference of 2 mpg they would not have an option to delete it.

NO, I'm not buying this.
There's something else going on here.

We all seemed to think FORD had this ASS to meet GOV fuel economy specs.
And some of us didn't like it, so we pontificated, ad nauseum, how to shut it off.
And NOW, FORD is simply charging us $50 to shut it off?
NO, I'm not buying this.
Read the window sticker it is a credit so they are taking 50 dollars off the price to remove it
