After a long road trip I realized I need ACC so I'd like to add it.

Looking at the differences in FORSCAN:

BCM 726.13.01 xxxC xxxx xx xx Cruise Control: 8=normal CC, C=adaptive CC

SCCM 724-03-01 2xxx xxxx xx xx 2 Adaptive Cruise, otherwise 0
SCCM 724-02-01 7x2x x8xx xx xx Steering wheel control??

CCM 764-01-01 24-- ---- -- xx $ (24) in HEX followed by (1st 4 VIN to ASCII (IN HEX)
CCM 764-01-02 ---- ---- -- xx Next 5 VIN to ASCII (IN HEX)
CCM 764-01-03 ---- ---- -- xx Next 5 VIN to ASCII (IN HEX)
CCM 764-01-04 ---- ---- -- xx Last 3 VIN to ASCII (IN HEX) followed by 00 00
CCM 764-01-05 0000 00 71

IPC 720-01-01 xFxx xxxx xx xx F = Adaptive Cruise, C = Standard Cruise
IPC 720-01-02 xxxx 9x xx 9 = Adaptive Cruise, 5 = Standard Cruise
IPC 720-02-02 xx8x xx xx 8 = Adaptive Cruise, 0 = Standard Cruise
IPC 720-05-01 xx7x x1xx xx xx 7/6 , 1/0

There is no CCM in Non ACC Trucks, so this coding will be new and contained inside the JX7T-9G768-AC unit.

Anyone done this or attempted it?

After a long road trip I realized I need ACC so I'd like to add it.
FWIW, I find ACC to be an annoyance on a highway trip. I get into the zone on long trips and will come up on someone going slower than I want to go and the ACC slows me down to match their speed, it may be miles before I notice and pull around. I switch to standard cruise control on long trips.

I do love ACC around town, it keeps me going with the flow of traffic where I wouldn't be able to pass anyway.

We have it on our Outback and it’s nice IF everyone driving slower would stay in the right lane. It seems that basic understanding has not been taught to today’s drivers….among many other courtesies of the road, but that’s a whole thread by itself.

It appears there’s a lot of mods to add the option making it expensive and time consuming.

It will require more than a programming. And big wallet.

Same here, I never use ACC for the same reason, although I use regular cruise control all the time. I thought I would like ACC, but I haven’t been able to warm up to it.

My truck is not my daily driver, I own and drive a Telsa. But kind hard to haul things in it. I absolutely love ACC in that and use it quite often, but it's more of a self driving thing that ACC. Which is a must on a long trip. I'm not one of those guys playing video games going down the road, or sitting in the back seat. It's just a way to relieve the driver a bit. The use I believe it was intended for.

I hope to prove you wrong... I will know in a couple of weeks when my parts all come in.
Good luck. How much do you have invested in parts so far?

I should be under $300 total. The harness and steering wheel button are shipping now. I have the mount thanks to a member on here that did a relocate kit, and I have the sensor, but still need the cover (looking for that part number) and the bracket mount (Should be under $30).

Far less than I thought. Good luck.

so heres a liability question for you:

If the truck came with ACC and something went wrong, Fords going to be the one fingers get pointed at even though they put a lot of caveats and warning into the systems operation, such as its not always working really well...always be prepared to brake if needed....etc etc.

With doing this yourself...are you prepared?
No difference than any other mod you do yourself as opposed to it coming from the factory or having a certified mechanic doing it. You could say the same about level kits or shocks. What if they fail because you did something wrong? I haven't seen one instance where someone here had this happen and it caused an accident. Has it happened before, I'm sure it has but you could play "what if" all day long with any mod we do. I'm kind of interested to see how this turns out and I'm sure that the OP will be taking precautions until he knows it's safe.

vastly different comparisons you have made.....I am thinking along the lines of plowing into the back of a slower car on the highway

let the Op speak for himself.
Not really because your front suspension could fail and you could plow into oncoming traffic. Heck just by not tightening your lug nuts correctly you could do the same. Maybe forget to tighten the oil drain plug and the oil leaks out and the engine locks up and you cause a massive pileup. See you could play "what if" all day long with any mods/repairs we do.

This isn't for everybody, I understand that and I'm not saying HEY EVERYONE DO THIS. Just wanted to share with the group. Whenever you work on your own rig you take risks. However I am using all Ford OEM parts here, it's not like I am splicing in a piece of hardware that doesn't belong. The F150 guys have all been doing this sort of thing for years. Am I worried? No not at all. But I am mechanically inclined and an electrical engineer so this sort of thing doesn't scare me in the least.
