Today is my truck's one year anniversary. Bought it March 27 last year.
Managed to put on 22,000 miles in that time.

found out today that the back up cam works with the tailgate down. i dont know why it would help or matter for anyone. but if you ever wanna see the ground go by from the tailgate cam view all ya gotta do is drop it and drive backwards!

Useful for idiots like me that occasionally forget to close it.

Been about 2 weeks since I drove the Ranger so took a 45 minute drive to my daughters. Went to leave after a couple hours and got the 'we are shutting down some systems' message (or whatever that message is) on the display. Never got that before and figured a 45 minute drive would have been enough to charge up the battery. Turned the key, it started, and I drove home.
Guess I have to get out more often.

Went to a bigger city for a movie.

While doing the trip I noticed an annoyance on the gearbox logic. Coming from manual gear box history I've kind of used to a logic that "press gas pedal down = go" which pretty much holds true for the other automatic (or no-gearbox at all) cars I've been driving here in Europe. For this truck the "press gas pedal down" seems to equal to "hey, let me look what we have available at the gearbox and come back to you in a moment" and the answer arrives when the need for the situation has already passed. And then comes the awkward "ok ok.. let' me cancel that reservation" moment. Only thing accomplished in those 10 seconds is loss of few mph and hell of engine rewwing and up to 6 gear changes.

On manual setting it seems to work fine for city driving.

So practically a "gearshift stall" where the car was trying to find the most HP for a situation where only adequate torque was needed. Sure a nice thing on gravel road where you want to throw rocks at squirrels but somewhat stupid reaction on a two-lane road.

Truck? I came from an F-150, downsizing due to gas. The Ranger doesn't even compare. Biggest gripe is the radio comes on automatically. If I go to warm up the car, or just prefer to enjoy the silence, AM Radio (static) comes on automatically. Who thought that was a good idea? So, I have to remember to turn the radio on, then kill the volume because the volume button has no stop, when I warm up the car. I do that manually because the phone app which is supposed to remote start the truck is so unreliable, it's not worth the time screwing with it. The truck is 20 feet from my door, and over a 5G connection, it works about half the time. The app says the vehicle started, but reality shows otherwise. I can't turn off the windshield wipers once they are on. The stalk (stalks... really?) is once inch behind the steering wheel which means anyone with hands larger than my 10 year old son will accidentally trigger the worst wipe control system I have ever seen. I created a separate post about this.

Things I do like: Better gas mileage than an F-150 (obviously). Much easier to park than a full-sized vehicle. Despite being a lousy 4cyl, it moves. I'm not sure if its producing 200 or 270 horse, but I do have passing power to escape those that must drive 55 in the passing lane. Sorry to rant.

My truck does the radio thing too. More specifically, it does it when last time I was in the truck, I was using android auto/bluetooth and don't manually turn off the radio afterwards before getting out of the truck. If I don't reconnect to bluetooth audio, it will then switch to the last station I listened to. Might try manually turning off the radio before getting out, then see if it still comes back on.

The others, I can't comment on as I don't experience them. I'm 6'2" with much larger hands than a 10 year old, and have no issues with the wiper stalk or it's position.

Remote start seems to work fine for me also. Can you connect your truck to your home wifi? That may be why. Admittedly I don't use that feature often, but has always worked, even if it is a bit slow to start sometimes.

I'm at 2 years, 1 month and just put 22K miles on mine. Bought just before the initial pandemic lockdown and started working from home, so that's why.

Tell us what you paid for fuel, grade and brand. I haven't refueled either of my vehicles in the last 2 months or so. I use 93 E0 exclusively - $4.50 the last time I refueled. Thinking I'll be in for a bit of a 'shock' but I don't drive much at all anymore.

$3.65 for 87 Octane on Maryland's Eastern Shore. Drove to another doctor's appt today. First trip since that last refuel stop.

Wow we're at $4.69 for 87 and $5.19 for 91 here. Sam's and Costco are a little cheaper but only around 0.15 or so.

Missed my 0720 doc followup this morning - rescheduled for an afternoon appt next month. Drove to ABC store and back - Ranger performed flawlessly as usual. Probably refuel both vehicles next week after a scheduled cleanup.
