Got my fire extinguisher and quick release mounted today. Not sure I like it this way, as I think vertical would be better but I went to the Homer Depot and bought screws that were too long. I never though about the depth being different at the bottom vs. the top. Oh well, it works for now.

It’s not as bad as it sounds - skin stretches a lot more than you think. Don’t believe me? It’s in the bible. “Jesus tied his ass to a tree and walked the rest of the way into Jerusalem”

Put a new steering wheel on today. Won’t be to everyone’s taste, but for the driving I do, it’s heaps more comfortable.

Also wrapped the factory trim piece black. Going to have a go at doing as much of the silver dash in black as possible. If it doesn’t work, just tear it off.

Where'd you get Wheel? I've been searching for one.
I had a go at wrapping the dash pieces, they do come off pretty easy but all of the angles proved to be too much to deal with for me, lol. I did wrap the the interior grab handles on the door in Vivvid's Forged carbon which was a nice compromise.

Steering wheel is by a company in Aus called CT Autoparts. But before you get excited, I’m 90% sure it won’t fit USA spec trucks.

I looked at a couple from over there and they said “Fits USA models only”. I thought that was weird, until I did the install.

Nothing is the same in removing wheel. Uses a different method, with no holes in the side of wheel to insert screwdriver. I had to take the column shrouds off, bend an old screwdriver and use it to access from behind the wheel itself, to get the airbag off. Took me ages to figure out how, even with the new wheel on my lap for reference. Only that I remembered seeing an old, poorly made YouTube video, that I tried that as a last resort.

Someone may have a pic of a US spec wheel, so here’s an Aus spec one, with all wiring, airbag module, etc removed. Had to access though the holes I’m pointing to.

And as for wrapping the dash, you’re not wrong.
Apart from fear of breaking things, the bits all come out ok. But there’s just too many curves for a first timer. I spent hours and got a very mediocre result.

I love the look of gloss black but, changes the whole interior feel, so I figure if I do the doors too and I start to get better, I’ll try the dash again.

Else, I may just have to have it painted, which I want to do, but don’t really want to have done. I’m still thinking. I’ll leave this on for a few weeks and see what I think then. I could also get a pro to wrap it, but will cost twice what my painter friend would charge me to paint the whole lot.
